Over in the Uk where you guys have a shortage of midwives and doctors, this is understandable, but here in the US where my practice has close to 15 doctors and midwives and only four offices...it shouldn't be taking over an hour to call me back! I just want to know if I should see a gp for my cough and if I can take the generic of Sudafed (phenylephrine) or not. That would take, what, maybe five minutes? they drive me crazy. I feel like the level of care is little to none.

Sudafed used to have psuedophedrine in it, instead of phenylephrine..
i'm not sure whether or not phenylephrine is safe, so i'd like to know what the office tells you if you don't mind :flower:

If you go with an adult/are over 18 with a license you can get Sudafed with psuedophedrine in it behind the counter at most all pharmacys. I have that, but it only helps with head congestion. I was told phenylephrine is fine as well. I'm going to take Theraflu now (I asked specifically and cross referenced that all the active ingredients were the same as ones in medicines on the approved list) and she also said that Benedryl is fine to take and it can help you sleep.

Also agitating, my chest has started to bother me, from all the coughing, and my mom wanted me to ask about it so i did...and the doctor told me it was heartburn...we went back and forth a few times and finally I was like "Yeah, okay, thanks." I love being told how i'm feeling. I want be a doctor, it seems like all you have to do is be very sure of yourself and repeat the same things many times. lol

edit: theraflu has been a godsend so far, only down side is there is a small amount of alcohol in it. =/ Not sure if thats true for most liquid meds or not.

Kind of funny, I happen to see an email from babycenter about what medicines you can/cant take and it says
"Also avoid the decongestants pseudoephedrine and phenylephrine, which can affect blood flow to the placenta."
Funny because it completely goes against what I was told by several pharmacist and my doctors office.

My OB office is good about answering/returning phone calls but forget calling my GP office, I called to cancel an appointment and was on hold for like 30 minutes! I ended up just hanging up, it should not take that long just to cancel an appointment.

& Sorry about your cold. Hope it gets better soon :hugs: I have had a stuffy head lately too.
