Does AFC = retrieved egg count?

Hi

I just wondered if anyone knows how likely it is that the follicles from the AFC (or baseline) scan necessarily translate to the same number of eggs retrieved at EC?

I had 18 follicles on CD2 which they said was good, but I'm not sure if that should mean 18 eggs are collected or is it usually a lower proportion of the follicle number?

Not that knowing makes a difference to anything than my obsession for understanding what is happening to me..

Usually you will get less eggs than follicles I'm pretty sure. I saw someone post a stat of 70% of follicles will produce eggs. Then some will probably not mature by the time of retrieval. But all it takes is one good egg! Don't worry!
PS This is for IVF, not sure about other means.

Thanks that's really helpful - anything I can do to prepare my brain and not have any surprises during the cycle can only be a good thing

Okay, so I asked my nurse today about the follicles etc. She said that the stims will increase the number of follies you will end up with after the baseline scan. She said sometimes people have zero follies at baseline! Now, I didn't ask how many follies usually become/contain eggs, but anyway, hope that helps!!

I had 18 on my baseline scan which I think is pretty reasonable number so now the concern is not to overstim... but if I can get around 70% eggs collected from those hopefully one of them will jolly well work!!

i had over 40 follies at my first scan and then 20+ during stimming, i had 6 eggs collected five were mature and 4 fertalised x

I had ec yesterday, I had 12 follies and 9 eggs x
