Does anybody or did you smoke.....

...and if so how you finding the whole quitting thing? xx

I had slowed down loads when I was ttc then I quit cold turkey as soon as I got my bfp! My weigth has shot up as expected and I struggle when i see others around me! I still have a pack at home which i am keeping, think it helps me feel they are there if u know what I mean. I sometimes play with the lighter, flicking it and take huge breaths when i am really dying for one....

It got better tho! been about 2 weeks now? and i ahve not fallen once yet, also been to parties and all, and stayed away.

Its odd i get angry when I smell it on people... I guess cos its a reminder of how much I want it! lol

Its hard and I understand why people dont quit! my mum smoked through all 4 pregnancies and we were all very healthy babies, but I dont want to risk so I stopped, but I know as soon as I give birth I will celebrate with a smoke.... or perhaps a cigar?!! LOL!!

How bad is that?!

I quit the day i got my BFP with both previous pregnancies but found it harder this time, i cut down everyday until the morning sickness kicked in and i couldnt have one even if i wanted one lol so now ive quit completely, its been about 6 weeks.

Thing with me is, i enjoy smoking and i only give up for the baby, id never smoke through pregnancy but im under no illusion that ill quit forever.. it usually lasts a few weeks after the birth then it creeps back up on me.. usually after ive had my first night out :dohh:

Well done for giving up though you've done great  :hugs:

xx

My cousin just had a baby and she didn't know she was pregnant until she was in labor. She smoked through the entire pregnancy (she would have quit had she known). Her little girl was born very healthy and still is.

I quit with my first. and now i feel so guilty because i'm finding is especially hard this time :( i feel so bad and guilty. i wish i could get some support and quit for good!!!

With my first pregnancy I quit as soon as I got my BFP and then when I lost the baby at 9 weeks I started smoking again and have found it harder this time to quit.

I got my BFP yesterday and had 2 ciggies after finding out which I feel awful about. Today I haven't had any although this thread is really making me want one :dohh: I won't have one though because I won't risk hurting my baby. Yesterday I was weak but I won't be anymore :nope:

I did hear that the risk to the baby for smoking is the lowest in the first trimester... so don't kick yourself for slipping now or if you smoked when you didn't know!

I did quit a few months before my BFP because I just felt so guilty wondering if it was delaying my BFP or contributing to the issues I was having. I was only doing one or two a day but had quit before and relapsed... this time DH and I both quit at the same time, cold turkey and its been great... easier than the last time. I feel that it helped to have a good reason.
For the first time in months today I had a craving though... it just sounded like such a great idea :dohh: ... if I didn't have my BFP I would have suggested we go drive over to a friend's house just to bum one, lol!!! Of course now I want one even more.. ARGH... so happy to have a reason to not smoke after almost a year TTC.. still a hard habit to quit.

One of my 'tricks' on a past quitting venture was to tear off the filter from an un-smoked cigarette... it was great to just hold it sometimes or even breath through it as if I was taking a drag... fulfilled that urge better than anything else.
