.....what a CTG is??

I had a little boy who was Stillborn in January, and because of that, my consultant has written in my notes that I can go to hospital anytime I want for a check-up.......but she has put that if I go, they need to do a CTG. Anyone know what it means?

Thanks xxx

"A Cardiotocograph (CTG) is a record of the fetal heart rate (FHR)".

It's when they hook you up to a monitor, by putting a big band around your bumpy. Then they monitor the baby's heart rate, movements and any contractions you may be having.

As the others have said - monitoring babies heartbeat, movements and contractions. Hope this puts your mind at ease hun!

Bring a magazine... lol, it gets boring watching the machine for hours.

Thanks ladies.....look at me, panicing over nothing....Hormones or what?!?!

Thanks for the reassurance, and if I go for one, I'll be sure to take a book!!
