Does anyone use a toddlepod?

I was thinking of getting one for my almost-8-month-old DD as she still naps on me in the day and I need to get her used to being laid down as she's starting childcare in 2 months (). I've heard it's supposed to mimic the feeling of being held. She's outgrown her bouncy chair or I'd just use that. She's very tall!

Does it work if they sleep on their side/tummy? I lay her down on her side at night as she startles and wakes if I lay her on her back, and she usually turns onto her tummy before long, so she might do that for daytime sleeps too I think!

Or does anyone have any alternative ideas? I've tried laying her down in her cot and she will only sleep for about 20 minutes in there in the day, and she needs 60-90 minutes per nap to be properly rested.

We have just bought one for our baby. He is only 5 weeks old but he is already as long as the poddlepod so we got the toddlepod. Like your LO he does not like to be put down and what with new born breastfeeding around the clock it was becoming a bit of a nightmare. He loves the pod and slept for a couple of hours in it yesterday which is amazing for him.

It would be fine for side sleeping but I don't think tummy sleeping would be comfortable on it.

That sounds great! I suppose since she doesn't try to tummy-sleep when she's on me, if it feels like she's being held she might be ok to stay on her back in it.

Was there anywhere you could go and see/touch one, or did you order it online?

We have ordered one for my 7 month old who sleeps very badly (but will go ages if being held). Missed delivery today hoping to have it soon.

No I just ordered it online, I think they're online only.

Came today it's lovely and baby certainly happy to lie in it. She stayed asleep when placed in it (fell asleep bf) but unfortunately up every hour so far (as usual) no miracle cute yet.

I had more or less decided to see if I could find a large floor cushion that would do the same job, but I was talking to my Mum about it yesterday and she has decided she has to have one, and has ordered one as an early first birthday present for her! :cloud9: I really really hope she takes to it...it would be good to be able to lay her down for naps when I need to, and we could leave it with the childminder in the week as well so she can use it there, especially when the environment is still new to her, she'll have something familiar.

Can't wait til it arrives now! :D

I've found the toddlepod works for naps she stays asleep when I put her down so well. Hope the big pillow does the same job! Planning on taking ours on holiday so she has a familiar place to sleep .

I've just reread my post and I totally wasn't clear - my mum's buying her a toddlepod :D So glad your LO has taken to it...fingers crossed mine will too!

Omg, this thing is amazing. I love it so much :D (I totally want an adult one!) DD is napping and I'm free to get on with things (so I'm sitting on bnb like I would if she was sleeping on me anyway :haha:).

I saw a review saying something like 'for what it is, it's extortionately expensive...for what it does, it's worth its weight in gold'. I concur!

Is it made from breathable material in case they roll over? My lo is a terrible sleeper and have been looking at a toddle pod but he can now roll into his side. Thanks.

The bottom part is breathable and the padded part is quite firm so dosent mould around their face. My lo has been rolling for months but can't roll in the toddlepod. She does sleep in a sleeping bag too so maybe she could if she was free.

They don't advise them sleeping unattended in them because it's not been approved saftey wise.

Mine sleeps on it in a co-sleeper cot next to me and I personally feel she is safe.

My DD is fully mobile now (eek) so she can roll in the toddlepod, but not fully onto her front, and then she gets up on all 4s to come out. I wouldn't leave her sleeping in it on her own, and I wouldn't personally put her in it overnight as she is a tummy sleeper at night so it wouldn't be comfy for her. Their shoulders keep the sides away from their face when they're on their back.
