Don't you just HATE the way Farrah and her mom cry?

And a lot of these girls make every teen mommy look bad.
I'm not nearly as f*cked up as these girls. O_O
Sorry just had to say this.

haha oh my god for a while I was obsessively watching 16 and pregnant.... my mom HATED it cause she says it makes her depressed (understandably haha). I don't know, I haven't watched it much lately cause it really does make teen moms look really bad, and I think it kinda just falls to the societal expectations that all teenagers who get pregnant will be depressed and have an awful experience and have their lives ruined. It's pretty disgusting if you ask me haha.... but yeah, it's a little bit diminishing that those girls agreed to be on that show.

The thing that really gets me is how awful the boyfriends and parents can be! I don't know how I would handle that lack of support from my OH and family plus a camera recording all of it to show the whole world? It's brave, but also a little bit stupid.

I don't know if i'd say they're totally fuck*d up, but they sure do have a really rough time. I feel bad for them for the most part. They obviously need more education and support!

I love the show. Mymom always said it would jinx me. OOPS. lol.
But I know I won't be like them.
Sometimes the episodes seem fake because ofhow ridiculous some people could be!
Some of the girls are just so ridiculous and they're boyfriends and family ar just like.. WTH?!
Although there are some episodes where I'mlike YEAH YOU GO GIRL! Lol

Haha me and my Mum watch it, we can't stand any of them :L I can't stand Dr drew who does the specials either, he comes across really rude sometimes :/

They just find people who would make good tv. Usually they're all extreme cases. :haha: I quit watching after the shows with Jenelle or whatever her name is. She didn't seem to care at all about her son. :(

I dont watch Teen mom, but i watch 16 and pregnant. Partially cause i wanna know worst case scenario for labor... ahah.

Janelle is suck a c*nt! I can't stand her eite and Dr Drwe is a dick.

I would make the most boring and absolutely unwatchable episode of 16 and pregnant lmfao.

Most teen moms do not have support nor education and this show is out there to show this..

there not going to put a show where teens have tons of support and stuff to fall back on as this would say hey its ok to be a teen mom...

(im not saying there is something wrong with it)

but statistics are not good...

i had my oldest when i was 23 and there are times where I wish I waited a bit more and that is me with job and college and husband....(btw ) she is 17 and graduating high school this yr...:)

They have plenty to fall back on though, ie all the fees they get paid for being in a TV series :/ I mean, have you seen their cars? Even the fact they have cars at all...

I know.
The girls in these shows have HOUSES.
HOLY SHIT I WISH I LIVED IN A HOUSE!
I live in a small 2 bedroom with 7 people! In the south side of Chicago (not pretty)
Lol, but they make it out to seem like teenagers are absolutely doomed once they fall pregnant.
Of course its hard and we sometimes wish we would have waited, but our lives aren't over. In fact their just beginning.

Oh, but I understand they can't put up a show showing how teens make great parents and should totally do it because then they'd seem as if they supported teen pregnancy and even promote it.

It's not an accurate representation of young motherhood at all, and I'm sure half of it is scripted :L

i dont know, I had three friends when I was a teen have babies and that seems pretty accurate to me...
I also Volunteered at a teen outreach program and I would say at least 70 percent of teen moms had situation like this or worse....

Its not your life but its alot of teens lives...and there trying to show teens that it going to be hard...

not every teen im sure is going to have a hard time but statistically its proven to be hard and even me having a baby at 23 ...i still felt young and it was hard even though I had more advantages then I did as a teen....

I felt so bad for my friends, I watched them suffer with daddy problems...with where they would live...with trying to do school and work and baby....
two friends ended up in homeless shelters...being a teen mommy is not an easy thing......and that is what the show is trying to show teens so that they know they have the choice to wait and some of the reasons why....

they able to get those houses because there getting like ten thousand an epi...

but your right they put the show to discourage teens to show for them to do more with there lives before they become a parent...like finish school, get a career also be a kid...go out party have fun...because once you become a mom you cant do that ......you have fun but your no longer a kid...

I was referring to the fact that they all have cars etc. it's not an accurate depiction because most people - teen parents or not - aren't being paid by mtv

There are also studies that show that ages 16-25 might be the ideal age to have children, considering the fact that there are online schools and more financial aid options, including educational help. There are some people that have theories about it being healthy for mothers to still be building on their education and carreer while they have a young child because once your kid is in school that gives you more time to work and develop your career. Given, lots of teen moms (including myself) are trying to juggle work school and baby preparation all at once which can be tricky without immense amounts of family and outside support.

I do believe that there are 16 year old mothers that are more prepared and have less "daddy problems" or relationship issues than some 30 year olds who are having planned (or unplanned) children. I think that having children can be hard for anybody, but age being such a huge component on judgement on weather women are "ready" or "capable" of being good mothers or competant adults is very societal and era specific. A couple hundred years ago, at 15 or whenever a woman's body was fully developed they'd be married and pregnant with their second child ! Society has made it harder for young mothers to feel accepted . Teenagers weren't always considered "children". In many cultures what we consider "teenagers" have the same amount of respect and responsibility as your average adult.

that's just my two cents.

oh, well yea that is true....
and that is because they all get paid like 10 thousand a show or something like that..most teens wouldnt see that..
heck I dont see that LOL

That sounds nice but not the majority unfortunately
Years ago girls did have babies earlier and get married earlier but for reasons..
most people did not live past 40 something...so there was a huge reason and there was back then only family to take care of....
but there was also a down fall and not only because not as good medical practices....
younger girls some have less developed bodies making for preterm babies and hermeraging....these mom lots of times died at giving birth because of them being so small and the hemorrhaging...
you are not done growing until you early till your early to mid 20.s with most people....
also there is a part of the brain that does not even developed until your 25 and that part of the brain makes it so you reason better......which helps tons...
if you have school behind you and career started it is just so much easier to have a child...(never mind even a OH) just that itself nobody can argue that its easier for you and your child to have that part under your belt first before having a child...
that said, i never said it was horrid to be a teen mom...
i have seen my share of great teen moms.....im just pointing out what the show was trying to point out.......
