Does it sound like my labour is close - please advise?

Hi everyone!

My name is Mandy. I would like a little advice from the moms on here if that's okay.

I am 37 weeks and 1 day pregnant today with my first child. Around 5 p.m. I went pee and when I wiped, I noticed some bloody mucus on the toilet paper. A very small amount though. I was also having some cramping so my husband and I went to the hospital for a non stress test. When I was there, they hooked me up to the monitors and confirmed that I indeed was having tightenings. That is what they called them. I had "trace protein" in my urine, and my doctor said I was dilated about a fingertip's width.

They said they can't tell me if it will be in a few days or a few weeks, but based on your experience, what do you think?

could be ages away yet or things could kick off really quickly its different i was 2 cm dilated for about 2 weeks prior to ds1's birth i had a couple of sweeps but he arrived at 41+5, i would put it out of your head and keep busy doing stuff, make plans and enjoy the last few days/weeks before baby decides to come

it's so hard to judge as everyone is sooooo different!

I was 1cm at 39 weeks - I'm now 8 days overdue and I'm only just over 2cm. it took me a week to dilate to 1 - 2 cm.

I have Been losing my mucas plug for over a week very slowly. I've had lots of cramping lots of period pains but it's your Bodys way of getting ready.

So don't get like me and get to excited as it could be a while yet!!
