I've noticed this too. We try to buy gender neutral, because we will be TTC again and want to be able to use the same things with the next baby, whatever the gender. But while Pumpkin Patch may not have much for boys, last time I was there (the Southampton store, but also online) had LOADS in neutral
It is annoying. But I've managed to find LO some nice clothes from Next, George and M&S
Here we only have 4 shops to choose from: BHS (which literally only stocks pink and blue), M&S (which stocks about 8 outfits for each gender, mainly pink, blue and white), Next (good for girls, crap for boys) and Mothercare (as far as I'm aware, fairly equal with both genders), and they only buy in what they think is cute; there isn't much of a selection. Imagine how frustrated you would be if you had a baby boy here!
I think it depends on what you're looking for i.e. The one you want isnt in stock.
We have a little girl and I love her in bright colours as well as pinks but the bright reds and greens are in the boys section with cars or monsters on.
I agree, and most places cling to the gender stereotypes, which we're trying to avoid. Boys' clothes have loads of cheeky sayings on them, like "little rascal" or "here comes trouble", and pictures of monkeys or dinosaurs on them, but you can't really put them on a girl, because they're so boyish in cut and colour. Girls' stuff is just "little princess" and "mummy's little flower" and has fairies, flowers and cakes on them; all flouncy, but not
cheeky. Why can't a girl be cheeky too? I prefer my LO to be dressed in cheeky and fun clothes, opposed to girly and princessy, no offence to anyone that buys those things, but I get frustrated seeing boys with cool slogans on their tops, and my LO has to be in plain pink stuff
I know that in general, a girl is easier to dress, but going back to the idea that it depends what you're looking for; I hate that everything for girls is pink, and everything for boys is blue. Grr, I don't like pink, and I can't put her in blue because then everyone assumes she's a boy
I just want neutral stuff, and I cna't be the only person in the world that buys clothes for their first baby hoping to use them for their second too; money doesn't grow on trees. But most of the time, they only make neutral stuff for NB if you don't know the sex of your baby. But what about afterwards; are yellow, brown, green, turquoise
banned? Just because I have a girl, it doesn't mean I'm confined to pink
