Lily

So I'm going to post this for a bit then delete it as I don't really like putting my surname on public forums in case I'm 'found'!

We're TTC at the end of this year and my favourite girls name has always been Lily. I seriously adore this name and think it is so pretty. I had basically decided on it for if we ever had a daughter and OH agrees (anything for an easy life ;) )

Last night I mentioned it during a conversation with my two SILs. One who has finished her family and one who hasn't got any plans to start yet. I said how we'd liked Lily for Jack but weren't sure it went with our surname. Then before I could say how with Freddie we decided it DID go so we were going to use it, both of them laughed and said yes it really doesn't go does it!

Now I can't stop thinking about it. One said I could always hyphenate it with another name but I wouldn't want to do that.

Other names I like are Grace, Ivy, Olivia and Ella. But none are as pretty as Lily to me.

Would really appreciate some non biased opinions!

I actually don't think its that bad at all, it's a bit rhymey at the end but not ridiculously so. How about Lily-Ella or Lily-Grace? X

I think it goes well :) My Lilys surname is also 2 syllables long and why a Y ending.

 I think it sounds fine?? I don't think it sounds odd at all. What is the concern - bc they both end in a "Lee" sound?

Hhmm - I guess of it was like Lily Riley maybe it would sound a little rhymey but perhaps with the "pl" consonant blend it sounds fine. In my opinion it works! I also love the names Ivy, Olivia, & Ella!

Oh thanks ladies that has put my mind at ease! Yes I think it was just the rhymey two syllable names together both ending with lee sound. But I've said it so many times in my head it sounds fine to me! It was just their reaction they both clearly thought it sounded funny and laughed even after I was like no seriously, that's my favourite do you really not think it goes?!

Think we'll stick with it :) Watch us have a third boy then it won't matter anyway lol. Well apart from you'll all have to help me come up with a boys name!

I think it goes really well. I would definitely use it! :)

It reminds me of an ex of mine...

His last name was Banks and we always considered Lily for a little girl. It sounded like a holiday park.

Mind you with a name like Summer we couldnt have got married because
'Summer Banks' sounds even more like one!

I think your names go perfectly well together!

We have a Lily-Ella. She was originally Lily Ella, registered with my surname. When we married we realised that Lily rhymed with our new surname  so we had to double barrel it by deed poll!
