had a go at using my mates doppler, couldnt find anything but not too worried as didnt really know what i was doing, but i did pick up something around 90bpm which was like a wooshing heartbeat, could this have been the placenta and would it have registered as a heartbeat on the doppler seeing it has the lcd display?

Could have been but also could have been your heartbeat x

Babies heartbeat should be a lot faster than that, but the whooshing sounds like the placenta to me.

I have a LCD dopper and it registers 90bpm when picks up my heart (along with a loud-ish woosh woosh noise). Don't think my heart rate is quite that high but I have found the doppler to misread the BPM sometimes. The placenta sounds like whistling wind and my doppler doesnt pick up a BPM for that.
Bubs heartbeat is much quicker and either sounds like a train or a galloping horse depending on the angle of the probe.
