Does this name make you think of TVs & VCRs??

I started thinking about the name Emerson alot! I think it's sooo pretty! I looked it up online & the sites kept listing it as a boy's name?? It's on the US gov's list though for 2009 & came up 300 & some as a girl's name! So that's good -- bc i like it as a girl's name! Plus 300 & some is a good ranking -- that way it's not a strange, weird name -- yet not at all common or popular!

What do you think of it??

We had our heart set on the middle name Sophia:

So..... Emerson Sophia?

Emerson Rose keeps coming to mind, tho!

Also, considering the alternative spelling: Emersyn

OH shot it down immediately -- said it reminds her of electronics! Is Emerson still a popular brand of TVs & VCRs?? Is that the 1st thing you associate the name with??

I never would have associated it with electronics. Perhaps a variation? Emery? But if your husband is aware of the band Emery, he might associate it with them.

I've never heard of the brand 'Emerson' before, I really like the name.

If Emerson was an electronic company in North America, I'm in Canada and don't remember it, so it must be older than my 24 years.

I like Emerson too, but if he really associates it with electronics, suggest Emery Sophia to him, if you like Emery.

I'm not familiar of the electronics brand - but I'm in the UK. It reminds me of Terri Hatcher, her daughter is called Emerson Rose I think.

I really like the name but couldn't have it as our last name is "Emmerson" When I suggested "Poppy" to DH he didn't like it but it grew on him and eventually it became his fav so maybe your OH might change her mind??

Think Emerson Rose has the best flow, but it's definitely rose in popularity among the middle names in 2010 (as well as earlier)..

L o v e Sophia, but I'm not sure the names go together since they're very different style wise :]

I like the name Emerson. An acquaintance of mine named her daughter Emerson. I think its adorable as a girls name but if your OH isn't in to it or will always think of electronics maybe it's a bad idea. Who knows maybe it will grow on her.

when I read Emerson I immediately thought of Edison for some reason, as in an Edison Screw, as in light bulbs!?

Wow! I'm suprised everyone seems to like the name! Every other name i've posted on here is usually 50/50 -- some like it, some don't!

I'm excited that Emerson is getting such good feedback!

I'm sure my mom wont like it though...... she's my toughest critic when it comes to baby names (or anything, really!). Lol.

N'awh.. well, at the end of the day; I'm sure when she meets your baby and she gets to know them, it'll grow on her and she won't be able to imagine them having a different name :]

I've found a persons personality does make a name more likeable ;]
