my 10 day old baby is on sma gold, i did see the post saying this causes constipation but so far he's been ok on it until yesterday when i seen him pressing hard to get a poo out...now between yesterday and today he's done 3 poo's which are decent enough in size so its not proper constipation..do you think this is him just getting used to his milk..should i change it...and if it is constipation is there anything i can do for him to catch it before it gets too sore??

sorry for the million questions first baby and this is the 1st time ive seen him getting anything remotley near discomfort xx

ETA: i know if im really worried i should contact my Midwife but i was just wondering if anyone on here had advise x

Hiya hun babies often grunt and push when doing a bowel movement and it is normal and nothing to worry about as long as he is not passing small hard pebbles.

From google

Babies that grunt and cry when they poop
If your baby does a lot of grunting when he poops don’t worry. This is normal. Babies sometimes grunt, cry or turn red when they have a bowel movement. This is nothing to worry about. A lot of new parents mistake this grunting for straining and constipation. Once your baby gets used to his bodily functions and how they feel, he won’t be as vocal about having them.
