Anyone know or had this happen... I'm watching my moms 1 yr old 15 lb dog. He's still young and jumped up on the couch and his paw hit right where the baby is. It was sore and I'm already having some cramping but just didn't know how cushioned that little guy is... I'm 14 wks and I played with my Doppler yest before all this happened so don't want to use it for a few more days, just didn't know how much that could hurt the baby

You're fine - I wouldn't worry :flower: my dogs jump on me constantly. I have a golden retriever and a german shepherd. My shepherd weighs about 70 pounds and she's always jumping everywhere. Baby is well cushioned in there =)

I'm really not sure sorry :( all i can say is if your really worried call you midwife to ask how cushioned the baby is. She'll be able to put your mind at rest :) hope everythings okay, sorry couldn't be more of a help :hugs:

your probably fine, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you cramp real bad or bleed. My pit bull mix is 90lbs and jumped on me (although not right on my bump) once, and my chihuahua (granted he's only 6 lbs) is constantly jumping/walking/sleeping on my bump. If you feel really worried, call your doc or midwife, for peace of mind.

I would call your midwife and get a bit of advice :) Although for 14weeks baby is more than protected in there I'd say :)

I have a big bouncy chocolate labrador and have to be careful around her now, she's very powerful, it's not so much that she will hurt baby if she jumps on me, it's more so because I'm Rhesus D Neg blood group so any big enough blows to the stomach I have to get a blast of ante-D injection :puke:

Having said that, I'm not sure at what stage it is they start doing that, I was informed at 16 week antenatal appt

My doctor told me that baby is so protected in there with all the fluids, that he is pretty safe. My dog sits on my belly all the time, shes 7 pounds. And I watched Tori Spelling's show and her goat is walking across her belly and her baby was fine. So Im think you are probably okay. As long as your not bleeding and it feels better sooner than later. If you are very worried call the Doc and ask what they suggest.

My 60lb dog jumped on me when I was pregnant with DS...at 14 weeks...He was fine so I'm sure your LO is fine too :). Nurse told me to rest and If I had cramping/bleeding to call but I had none of that.

If it was one paw of a 15lb dog then I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Thanks everyone! I don't notice any pain today other than the growing and stretching that I have been experiencing lately... I just was so worried the pressure could crush the baby... I hope and pray when I go next week to see the dr for a check up she laughs at me like she does when I worry :flower:
Thanks for all the responses!

I think you and little fetus will be fine. I work at a veterinary hospital, and I have large dogs jump up and punch me in the stomach all the time! It is definatly sensitive. But a 15 lb dog is pretty small, so shouldn't be enough to cause a problem. I had a 120 lb mastiff punch me in the stomach a few weeks back, caused a bleed in the placenta. But that was more of a horse than a dog!!

I had a similar experience last night. My dog was excited because my husband got home and she jumped right onto my stomach. Felt like the wind was knocked out of me. I had a bit of a sore tummy for a while, but I feel fine today. I even felt the baby moving a bit inside, so I think we'll be okay. Baby is only supposed to be the size of an avocado right now, surrounded by a safe womb.

The slight pain your feeling is probably just because you reflexively tense up all of your muscles to protect the baby (and your own organs). I'm sure you're fine as long as there's not continuous cramping or bleeding. My 8# maltese has run across my bump many times.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have 3 dogs that weigh 55, 65 and 70 and sometimes they are not gentle:)

I'd say you're probably fine hun, my 12kg toddler regularly does run-ups and tries to plow into my stomach and sometimes succeeds if I'm not quick enough to see him :( But he never hits hard enough to cause damage and I doubt a mid-size dog could either if it didn't drop all its weight straight into your stomach from a bit of a height!
