I'm not a very healthy eater, i've always had a very fast metabolism that has allowed me to eat what i want when I want. But now i've been told I have to eat healthier as Savannahs poos smell very sweet, like when your milk first comes in; which is apparently due to my very sugary diet...

I'm not good at eating healthy, i'm addicted to coke and like to eat chocolate... I have cut down on chocolate though as it gives lil bub a tummy ache. It's not like I eat Mc Donalds and takeaway all the time, but rather I eat just snack food, like biscuits etc. It's mainly coz it's easier and less hassle than making something healthy.

Is anyone else going through this as well? We could support each other, lol.

I'm the same. I seem to live off toast and biscuits. I dont eat loads - I just eat whats quick and easy, We need to be careful because a friend of mine lost her appetite and only ate ceral with milk and her milk dried up over a couple of weeks :( She'd been feeding for 6 months fine but when she stopped eating well the milk stopped too.

I've just eaten a slice of toast although I've been quite good today as I've been out so I've bought food - I had a jacket potatoe with tuna but thats the best thing all day....the rest was toast, custard creams and toffee....:shy:

I tend to not eat if I don't eat breakfast, so I have toast with jam. Maybe all this crappy food is why she eats every 2 hours... :/

no advice from here honey, just wanted to wish you all so much luck, you bf-ing mummys are amazing :hugs: x x x

Bless you Carly but ALL us Mummy's are bloody FAB!! :hugs:

I wonder?? Although Hebe will eat every 2 hrs if we are home but if we are out she'll go 3 or 4 ??

Savannah is exactly the same, or if i'm at work and someone else is looking after her with expressed milk she'll go longer too.

Weird isnt it.

I get this stitch like pain in my side and I know it means I havent eaten enough. I've just had it now and suprise suprise I went and got some toast....:dohh:

Lol yummy toast. I just get really light headed an shaky if I haven't eaten enough.

 I have to say Hebe's aint sweet......we call her Egg-weena....phew...

I eat loads of crap but Caitlyn's poo smells anything but sweet!

Just what I was thinking about Sam's  ...actually they were a lot better when he was just having milk than they are now (but at least they stay in the nappy now he's on solids :laugh2:)

As long as you're eating well enough to keep yourself healthy, I wouldn't worry too much as all the goodness still goes into your milk. As long as you're not eating anything that's causing her to be uncomfortable, and you make sure you have lots of calories and more calcium than you would usually have (chocolate is good for both of those ) you should be ok - obviously it's better if we can all eat the perfect diet for breastfeeding but it's hard to find time to eat at all with a baby to look after, let alone trying to cook healthy and nutritious meals 3 times a day!

Breastfeeding diet x

I the same. Although I always try to have a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner I have now got SUCH a sweet tooth so also have a slice of cake and a choc bar, plus a few Roses most days
Poppy's poo smell of chocolate.....Feel bad now ;(

i have found my appetite has sky rocketed and im always hungry. i try to eat healthy but the biscuits and chocolates call my name x

You have talking biccies at your house too Claire?! I try to make sure I dont pick those ones up in Sainos but they shout so friggin loud I pick them up just to keep them quiet!! x

Yeah those *******s just don't keep quiet!! I think we've come to a conclusion... It's all the fault of the productions companies.

You'll get into a routine. The key is finding the acceptable snacks (ie tastes good but are good for you). This can take awhile, especially while adjusting to being a mother!!! :) But you'll get there!!

I've worried about healthy eating as well. I was also not getting lunch for a while as LO seemed to always want attention and didn't sleep during the day. I also had (well, have) a sweet tooth but I've forced myself not to eat chocolate as it gives LO tummy troubles.

I literally with hubby's help/support am forcing better foods (while not super healthy at least not only snacks) during the day and evening. As getting toast or anything for breakfast was next to impossible, hubby tracked down a fruit breakfast drink thing that has fruit and fibre in it for me. I also drink a lot of juices (along with an occasional coke or gingerale - I'm not a saint and I need SOME caffeine) during the day. This has helped as juices have some sugar but also if you get the right ones a lot of vitamins and I can gulp it down for a quick fix and go.

I also have managed to be a master at the speed sandwich. However, LO is over 2 months and it has been easier now. So, don't give up hope!!

I also try to snack on nuts and raisins instead of biscuits, etc (note - TRY) and that has helped some. Fast and barely tolerable taste-wise :)

Hubby pointed out as also told here that LO is getting all the good stuff but too much junk was going to cause problems.

The bigger problem which hubby said is that I was getting run down and not getting enough. I was exhausted all the time and then the quick fixes from chocolate, junk food was just making it worse in the long run.

So in all this babble, my point is that you can stick a few 'healthy' snacks in between the choccy biscuits as well :) That's what I've had to do and it seems to work!
