Don't know if I can do it...

I have that problem, always tired and run down. I have trouble knowing what snack foods are healthy, most of the time I get it wrong.

Well, I got lucky in that I'm married to the food police :) Hubby was so dubbed by my family due to his 'suggestions' to me about what I was eating.

Even before LO was a thought, hubby was always going on about my eating habits...

When I got pregnant, it got worse and has continued!!

My midwife/nurse when I was first breastfeeding said that cashew nuts are good for bfing, fruits (like kiwi, etc) and meat (including red meat) (believe it or not). I think in general just trying to eat as balanced as possible (ie the 4 food groups) should be good enough :)

However, chocolate is also good for you in small quantities and if it doesn't give the baby tummy troubles. When LO was between 0-8 weeks, I really couldn't have caffeine or chocolate as she was then up all night but now she's pushing 3 months and I seem to be able to slip them in the diet without too much trouble to her.

Also, hubby said that chocolate was probably a better source or sugar, caffeine than as he puts it "That crap sugar cereal you eat". :)

lol, I'm sensitive to milk, which has become more predominant since being pregnant and having bub so i don't eat cereal anymore.I don't like nuts though :( I did have a sausage for lunch, thats gotta be a good thing though right?

Definitely! Yum, sausages......

I don't drink milk or eat most cheeses etc either! I eat the sugar cereals plain.. hehe...I like my sugar rush! :)

My LO likes to BF during the day smaller amounts and every 2 hours or so. Which has worried me to no end thinking I'm not giving her enough nutrients. However, at night she can sleep more than 5 hours and not wake up hungry. I just wait for the weigh in and the doctors/nurses will advise if something needs to be changed.

So during the day with every 2 hours, I definitely more drinking than eating. My help at the beginning also said that it was more important to drink a lot when bf - juices being the best. However, I'm very picky eater so I think we've found (after a lot of different trials) about 2 I actually like!!

Just keep trying different things and try to just ensure YOU are not feeling hungry and too run down. If it gets worse, maybe check with your doctor for advice. :)

However, don't worry about LO as she'll definitely take what she needs and if she's unhappy you'll know.

PS - hope I'm coming across helpful and not preachy!! I definitely don't mean that way!!

As my hubby comes across preachy and it drives me crazy!!!

No, your comming across very helpful! I need advice on what foods to eat so your a good resource

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure sometimes it is hard when you are typing to know.

I've got an appointment on Thursday and I'm going to ask some more questions as well given her eating during the day every 2 hours - if it is normal at this age, etc. If I get any good pointers, I'll let you know!
