as most of you know for the past week and a half ive been struggling to get ffoin to sleep for more than 2hrs at a time. so lastnight i gave her formula has her bedtime bottle and she slept for 7hours.. when she woke for a feed i breastfed her and she was awake every hour and a half after that.

i just dont know wether to carry on breastfeeding or not..

it seems were all in this boat... yesterday my LO had 2 lots of formula and she slept for like 5 hours... and I changed her to wake her!!

The breast through the night.... she just doesnt sleep.... she'll feed.. then wind, then change... have a cuddle!! Then she will want more food!! Its constant!!

its not encouraging to know that it hasnt got much easier with your lo!! :(

Do whats best for you , FFion has had the best start and got all the goodness of your milk :)
It must be hard with limited sleep and also a toddler , sleep is very important expecailly with two kids!
Do what you feel is right ;) :hugs:

You have to remember that your sanity is just as important as anything, especially when you have 2 kids to look after, and to somehow fit in some sleep for yourself! You've done amazingly to last this long just breastfeeding, but if you think giving her formula would make things better for you, Ffion and Rhys then don't feel guilty about it - you don't even need to completely give up breastfeeding if you don't want to...people successfully do both :hugs: x

i just wish my milk would make her sleep! i thought it was a growth spurt but its been going on for so long. ive been like a zombie for the past 2 weeks! ive just given her a bottle of expressed milk now and put her down for a nap so ill see how long she sleeps with that.

i think ill end up switching over though

Do what you feel is right for you and your baby but if you do want to continue it will get easier - your baby is probably having a growth spurt at the moment - i know it seems like it has gone on for ages but this is the time your baby is growing the fastest and needs to increase your milk supply. Try feeding more often during the day so that you dont have to feed so much at night. If you do stop feeding in the night your supply will diminish and you will find it harder and harder to feed.

the thing about feeding her during the day is that i have a toddler who at the moment is being abandend whilst i look after our baby! i feel so sorry rhys that i dont spend enough time with him...

Not entirely true. I breastfed Caitlyn for ages with a bottle before bed and we were just fine, as was my supply?

Do what you want Tezzy. She will love formula, don't worry! :)

did she start sleeping through with a bottle before bed tor?

good luck Tezzy :)

My baby was doing the same thing as Ffion for the last month... She is nearly 3 months now (out of the fourth trimester) and she has successfully slept from 9:00pm to 3:00pm for a week.

That's 6 lovely hours of sleep for 5 days in a row!

:happydance:

Good luck hun! You will do whats best for you and your LO and toddler... Your right, you need to find a balance bettween the baby, your toddler and sleep. Because depriving yourself of that much sleep is not healthy for anyone of you.

I still feel there is way too much pressure on women to breastfeed :(

Youve done great hun, 2.5 months is an excellent start, but you need to be enjoying motherhood and your toddler too... Your other son is only a toddler once in his life.

You have to do whats best for you all sweetie.

Whatever is right for you whatever decision you make you never need explain yourself ... x

Its horrible being in your situation right now. It ate me up when i was but then decided that doing both works for me and i feel sooooooo much better having made that decision.
I breastfeed early morning, midday ish and afternoon so just 3 times a day now with bottle top ups and Tabs does well on it,no confusion etc.although she was topped up since birth but now some feeds she just has a bottle.
She gets off to sleep around 7-8pm after a bottle then i stir her to give her a dream feed between 10-11pm which she has a max of 3oz then she wakes either once at 2am or 4am for another 3-4oz then up properly for morning feed at 6.30.
Whatever decision works for you is the right one :hugs:
