We went to the health visitor today and she thinks that DD does have silent reflux, she advised us to use infacol and maybe change bottles before we try switching formula?

Just wondering which ones are better for reflux?

Thanks :flower:

We've always used nuk and found then great. Is there a reason you wanted one if those 2?

No not really, just the only 2 I had really heard of and TBH the health visitor wasn't all that helpful :)

Dr browns are brill but pricey and they do leak i switched to nuby and have never looked back since all there products are brill

I didn't find that Dr Brown bottles helped much personally but I'm in the minority.

Are you in the UK? Do you have Playtex brand bottles? If so I have found the playtex ventaire's work for my LO.

Dr browns helped dramatically here but every baby individually is different. Trial and error x

Sorry another question, was anyone else told to try infacol for silent reflux, I've just been looking at it and some stuff on Google and it seems to be more for trap wind? Also some say it shouldn't be taken for reflux as it makes it worse?

I use Dr Browns and love them (never had a leak unless you tighten the lids when water is still hot). Infacol made silent reflux much worse in my son. It's not designed for reflux as you say, it's for wind. We use anti-reflux formula and that's enough for us but it depends how bad the silent reflux is. There are other medicines that Dr can prescribe for it.

We use dr browns and they are fab. I store the milk in tommee tippee bottles and then pour into dr browns once its been heated but thats because I had tt bottles to start with and this is what works best for us. Infacol made silent reflux worse. She also has a lactase deficiency which we use colief for and its been fab. Perhaps try this also as within a week she was a different baby and her reflux had gone down and her stomach aches which were causing her to scream uncontrollably for between 6-15 hrs a day had stopped. Hope you find something that works for you as its horrible when you cant help them. Xx

Infacol also made my lo's silent reflux much worse. Some on here have had good results with infacol with their reflux babies though.

My kiddo has cow milk protein intolerance. Because of this, it caused him severe reflux, gas, and constipation because he could not digest the formula. He is on Dr Browns which have worked brilliantly. I have not tried the MAM or Nuk as we have different brands here but I am very happy with his. We use Infacol a lot because he can still get gassy and he loves the dang thing. We tease him about needing to go to meetings... It helps him so it does work for us but his gas precedes his reflux so I guess it really depends on the cause of the reflux. :flower:

Infacol is for wind, are you sure your HV knows it's reflux? Sounds like she's given advice for colic! Have you seen GP? My DS had to have meds for his reflux. Bottle wise, we've tried most as DS had tongue tie too and found Avent classics the best but really if your LO takes their bottle ok I can't see why you would change. Bottles won't affect reflux (in my opinion) x

Are you sure it's reflux or is it colic? Bottles won't make a difference for reflux really, it's more for wind/colic. We use infant gaviscon in her bottles. It thickens the milk so that it stays down in their tummies and it works for us as her special milk is very thin.

We don't have playtex brand in uk, you could maybe try ordering them off amazon? I wouldn't buy more than one bottle of whatever you are trying as I made some very expensive mistakes when trying out bottles 😁 Some of them she just wouldn't take to but once we realised the reflux her medicine made a big difference. What symptoms does she have of reflux? I think it's worth going to your gp as I agree with a pp, you have really been given advice for colic rather than reflux! X

She said it sounds like reflux but now I've looked in my red book she has written 'advice given for colic and feeds'?

She squirms and arches during her feeds and her face goes bright red, she also winged quite a bit but doesn't cry, she isn't really a cryie baby though. She takes about 20-30 minutes to settle after and doesn't like being lied down, we have tried a dummy though since yesterday and so far that is making her settle a little quicker.

She won't take no more than about 3 ounces per feed now although up till about 7 weeks she was eating 5-6 ounces per feed. They was actually watching her weight until last week as she was putting on so much and constantly eating, now it's the total opposite. It's like she just changed overnight.

To add, she isn't really a sicky baby, she will probably projectile vomit once very 2 days and will bring up the whole bottle, she has started being a bit more sicky in the last few days though but just small amounts at nearly every bottle, it doesn't look like fresh milk that she has just spat up though, more like curdled milk?

She sounds just like my baby 6 weeks ago! Screamed or fussed generally all day, not really throwing up all the time but spitting up sour, curdled milk, hating lying flat, etc. We took her to the GP and she's now on infant gaviscon in her normal formula (SMA), and she is the most chilled out baby ever these days. We bypassed the HV and went straight to the GP cos I knew she'd pass it off as colic!

Definitely try to see your GP hun :hugs:

We use MAM bottles, I love them and they have lovely designs, bonus

Thanks, I'm going to go to the doctors tomorrow as they couldn't give me an appointment for today unless it was an emergency.
I did try the infacol twice today and she was sick both times, there was no pain or anything it was just as soon as she swallowed it she was sick instantly, projectile both times, so that's going in the bin now.

Sounds like reflux.

We found colief in the bottles was good, but really only the infant gravies on made the real difference.

We used I facial once her reflux settled at about 12 weeks, and she's still on it now at 18 months, as it helps her bring up wind from the milk.

I'd definitely ask your doctor, info ok isn't a treatment for reflux.
