Helloooo!

Just wondering, is anyone else using the Dr Brown level 3 teats before 6 months? We are using the level 2 at the mo and didn't know whether to change to the next one up as LO has started fussing during a feed and keeps turning away from the teat and pushing it away then going back and away again, he's not done this before? - its a nightmare feeding at the mo, maybe its to do with the teats? like its too much hard work to suck it out of the teat. But it does say level 3 from 6 months up? is anyone else using them before 6 months? LO is 18 weeks today x

Yes my little man Toby used the level 3 teats from 11-weeks I think it was!!!!! He had bad wind but the Dr Brown's level 2 teats were too slow, he wasn't getting enough milk and wasn't happy! So we thought the level 3 teats would be worth a go and we were very surprised he was fine with them! But annoyingly, those are now too slow for him and the level 4's drown him so he is having to use TT or Avent bottles!
He was doing exactly the same, fussing loads at the bottle, barely taking a full feed (5ozs at most) and taking the teat and pushing it straight out as soon as he realised it was still hard work to drink it.
I'd give them a go if I were you!
xxx

Thanks I'll give them a go, think we might need to anyway if the doc prescribes infant gaviscon for LO for his reflux, as might be too thick to suck through the teat!

Hello, my little girl was premature and she struggled to get milk out with newborn teats so I went straight to 3 month teat (different brand) this was before her due date so it is ok to use the next size teat up, your baby will guide you. Before she was taking over 30 mins to feed, now she guzzles 3 ozs in 10 mins.
Try the teat and see how your little one gets on.

We swapped to level 3 when Phoebe was around 4 months old. She was struggling to suck and batting the bottle away in frustration, it took me a while to figure out what was wrong but since we swapped we have had no problems.

Not Dr Browns, but we swapped to Avent stage 4 (for 6m+) at 3 months.

ahhh.. sometimes Mylo gets frustrated.. towards the end of the bottle.. batting it away and stuff after the last burping session. We are on level 2 teats.. but only have level 1 for giving water and level 4's are in the cupboard. May have to get some level 3 teats and try him.. Not yet though I dont think.. he is only 6 weeks. lol

ive only just realised this might be the problem with my lo, as he fusses, gets frustrated and pushes the bottle away. we are still currently on level 1 teats, but going to try level 2. ive thrown the packaging away, when are level 2 and 3 teats for ? xx

haha are you kidding? My daughter is 8 weeks tomorrow and shes already on Dr Browns number 3 hun lmao!! She was really struggling with getting enough milk on a size 1 or 2 and had gone from taking 5oz in about 5/10 minutes to taking 3oz in about 30mins! So thats how we knew it was time to change. She seemed to be getting so tired of sucking she was falling asleep before getting enough and was therefore very restless and grumpy and it also caused her a lot of wind.

I have read a lot of parents comment on this subject on here and have to say I think the majority use size 3 teats before 6 months. Its only a guideline and at the end of the day, only WE know whats best for our own children really I suppose.

Why dont you just buy a pack of two and if he is better with them, then buy the rest? :)
