Im currently breastfeeding at the moment and my daughter is nearly 5 and a half months.Im now thinking of slowly introducing Formula and was advised by my health visitor to use Dr Browns as they are very good.So i was just wondering for those who use Dr Browns if they are any good?

I personally think they are brilliant! I was using Tommee Tippee and Avent bottles with Jayden but he kept getting terrible wind and colic and would wriggle and scream at every feed. It got to the point where I was dreading feeds and decided to change bottles to see if this would help. I looked on the Mothercare site and came across Dr Brown bottles so bought 4 and although they are quite expensive and take a while to sterilise (due to the extra pieces) they are definately worth the money IMO and he does not wriggle at all now, he seems so relaxed, theyre magic!

i had TT CTN bottles to begin with but didnt agree with our LO so we changed to dr brown and they have been fantastic, i will use them from the beginning with any future children

Ooh good to know, I've wanted to switch Elyse over.

Thats deffintly made my mind up then coz Olivia is nearly 5 and a half months and suffers alot with wind.Shes a bit better now she is older but doesnt wind very well.

someone reccomened dr brown bottles to me but i was put off by the price.. as luisa didnt like the tommee tippee ones and it was a waste..

but now im thinking it may be worth it if they work.. luisa has terrible colic

do you need a particular streliser for them?

no any steriliser will be fine. mine is a microwave and cold water steriliser. they just take a bit longer to clean due to the extra parts (theres 6 pieces!) but well worth it if they work!

I have 4 of them, but also use TT and Avent. Dr Browns are expensive, but they are worth the extra money as I always find that the boys have an easy feed with them. I think it really does prevent them from getting painful wind.

I use them with Archie. I started using them when he was still in the hospital and they were that effective in reducing wind, Archie's saturations improved and he no longer needed oxygen. So I fully believe that they work along with every nurse that looked after Archie in hospital!

Well worth the extra money and time taking to clean them. xx

right i got 4 bottles today..

its says not to shake the formula in the bottle..

does anyone recomend a certain way?

thanks in advance

yeh, although it says that i still shake them but wrap a towel round the bottle when i do (as milk leaks out, the holes are at the sides) because there isnt really any other way to dissolve the powder. x

 I thought I was the only one who wrapped the bottles in a towel!!

mine came with a seperate cap for shaking. It takes about 20 seconds longer to use the extra cap but I have found it is nice to not have the mess.

I just take out the insides pour in formula and put cap on shake. then put the insides back in and serve.

thanks girls well luisa has had them for the last 3 feeds and so far so good..

she isnt squirming around the bottle.. hasnt screamed with wind its come up real easy :)

Me and OH have mastered this....Ok it goes like this...

Swirl the milk and the water around the bottle - no teat or cap on etc, once de-solved a bit make the bottle up and lightly shake then loosen the cap - this lets the air out of the central column. You do this twice and then you can shake as much as you want with no spills.

will have to give that a go! x
