Draining a full 3oz bottle at 10days

So little man is 10days old but completely drains a 3oz bottle every time we feed him, he spends most of his time asleep, we dont wake him up for feeds so feeding completely on demand..

Should i wake him so he feeds more offten or just up his oz intake or leave it where he is?

Like in the morning he will have a feed at between 12-2am next feed 5-6am then the next one some time between 10am-12noon.... Thats the times i remember because everyone asks me how he feeds though the night lol

if he's draining the bottles I'd up the ounces. Hannah was at 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours at that age

A general rule of thumb is if the baby is draining the bottle it is better to go up in the ounces, they don't necessarily have to eat it all but it's better to have a little to much than to have too little. Plus draining the bottle dry can cause more gas issues (sucking in more air)

We went up a half ounce each time Grady started doing this!

Sounds like he has a good appetite which is great!

Violet also has a huge appetite and we were giving her the recommended amount for a 2wk old after only a day or two being home.

In the hospital, they told us babies her age will usually only take 30-50ml and she took 70ml - even they were quite suprised lol

I'd try upping the ounce - just remember to keep water and scoops the same so you don't upset his tummy. If he doesn't have it all, then at least you know he's getting enough xx

I agree with the others i'd up it by half or a full ounce and see what happens

guess and test! That's what I do, if he can polish off a full bottle that I make, the next one I make an oz more and see how he does....if he spit it all up I go back to the regualr amount.

Oscar was on 6 at 2 weeks, I'm not that worried though he doesnt bring it up so he must need it, if they were breastfed we would be non the wiser x

very true, get him weighted next week see if its had much of an impact lol

my babys drinkin 3oz and hes only 5 days old lol hes gulping that down so im sure he will be on 4oz soon
