I have just started FF and I know that 1 oz of water needs 1 scoop of powder, but obviously that means that each oz and scoop ends up more than 1 oz.
I have been putting the powder in the bottle first because if I put it in after the water then the steam makes it stick to the scoop. So my question is how high should I be filling the water level to? Does anyone have a foolproof guide from 1 scoop to 7 scoops how many oz it should actually amount to?
Thanks:blush: That's my dumb question of the day.

Actually it's 1 scoop for 2 oz or 60 ml of water. Don't worry about it going over the measurement line because you need the full amount of water. Maybe you can measure the water in another container.

TTC First - please be careful giving this advice as it isn't correct for all formula.

Read the container for your formula. Mine is 1 scoop per 30ml

Mrs B - I just put in the water then all the formula. I don't have too much issue with the formula sticking to the scoop. I make sure I tap the scoop on the side and that gets it all out. The scoop isn't over the bottle for long enough for the steam to cause any trouble.

At the moment Beth is having 180ml so I put in that much water then 6 scoops of powder.

I have the same problem with the formula sticking to the scoop. Maybe try measuring the watering into a different bottle or a jug then tipping it in. It can cause problems for LO if the proportions aren't right so I don't think I'd risk pouring in the wrong amount.

I put the water in first, then add the powder, yes it sticks to the scoop but I just wash it afterwards!

I put the water in first then the scoops mine is 1 scoop per 1oz too it does stick but i just tap the scoop with a knife ad it does end up being about half an oz more with the formula in it but thats ok.

What I do is have a container which you put the right amount of scoops in, fill that then all you do is add all the compartment at the same time. It's easier when you've got a screaming baby, I always used to loose count in the hurry and has start again lol.

This is what I'm on about:

Ooh, I think I'm going to get this!
The problem with the powder sticking to the scoop isn't that I have to wash it, but literally half the powder sticks so my next scoops are like half scoops and I have to guess anyway. :(

Glad to be of help :) it's also useful for wen you go out aswell :) x

I bought mini storage pots (that you might use for purées when weaning) and put the scoops in there, then when water at right temp (ours has to be correct drinking temp before adding powder-right pain!) add the powder with a little tip of the pot :) as pp said, handy when out and about as well :) x
