Hi all,

As the title says what we're your earliest signs and symptoms of your twin pregnancies and what were they?

Always wondered how much they differ to a singleton x

Only additional symptom I had was increased pressure down below from 8wks with the twins - that feeling of fullness in your lower abdomen and uterus as it expands in the 1st trimester set in earlier with them.

Morning sickness, tiredness etc all began at around 6wks just the same as my singletons, and the nausea was nowhere near as bad with twin boys as it had been with my singleton daughter. I wouldn't have suspected twins at all from symptoms alone in those early days :) xx

I didn't have any unusual symptoms with the twins in the first trimester. I had a singleton pregnancy last year and would say both pregnancies felt the same during the first trimester. This is why I never suspected carrying twins and was quite shocked when I found out at my 12 week scan.

At the very end of the first trimester/beginning of second trimester, I felt lots of pressure 'down there' with the twin pregnancy and seemed to tire easily when on my feet for too long... second trimester started to get uncomfortable and it went from there!

Before I took a test I had a photo shoot with OH and when they cleaned the floor I wanted to lick it. OH said it smells disgusting but to me it smelt like strawberry cocktails and when the lady put my make up on I had a sudden burst of sweating so much and nearly fainting! that was around 3 weeks pregnant. 2 days later I took a test because I couldn't eat anything and had horrible dizziness. those symptoms didn't pass til 13 weeks.

I don't think my symptoms differed from a singleton pregnancy. I got tired and had morning sickness starting at 6 weeks (found out before 4 weeks because we were trying) and my morning sickness lasted till 16 weeks and I had awful heartburn but those can happen with singletons too.

I was pretty sure I was pregnant when I tested but I have been pregnant five times, it was the cramping and metallic taste that made me test.
However apart from being very crampy at the beginning this pregnancy has been easier and had less symptoms than my last one. I kept thinking about twins but didn't actually think I was having twins, the news at the scan was a shock. I don't know why twins kept popping into my head.
The only thing different about this pregnancy is that I had small amounts of spotting and light bleeding, this is due to a small subchorionic haematoma and not the twins though.

I had morning sickness from 3+6 and it was awful all the way to 14w. I actually lost weight from being so sick and didn't strt gaining until 18w. I was also so exhausted that I would get out of bed in the morning, manage to somehow stay away for an hour or two, and then get back in bed and sleep another 2-3 hours. I took at least 2 naps a day from 6w to 12w. I also had cramps all through my pregnancy, which my OB told me was normal and from stretching.

I also had a feeling that I was having twins. I was completely convinced and everyone thought I was crazy.

this is my only pregnancy... but... i had no morning sickness etc. only thing is now im big for 28 that is about it

Sounds a lot like my story! I have lost 4 pounds and am 16 weeks. I was very tired and still am. That was the first thing that made me think twins.

My first indicator of twins was a scan at 6 weeks lol

I had no morning sickness ever and sailed through - never been pregnant with one though so not a clue how it differs x

The only ones I can remember was at 4 weeks my boobs were so SORE! Then for almost the entire first trimester I was so exhausted. Sleeping all night, plus naps during the day. Other than that I was fine.

I can totally identify with this!
This is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure how it differs from a singleton, but I was really nauseated at the end of week 3, but at the time I just thought it was the clomid. I had all day ms through the end of week 14 and even though I'm already thin I managed to lose 8lbs. At this point I'm in week 17 and I still haven't gotten back up to my starting weight.
Plus I had really vivid dreams from early on.

I had the dreams too! Totally forgot! Only during first tri, though. One night I had a dream that I went riding on the back of an alligator. :dohh: And I always had dreams that I was having twins before I actually found out that it was for sure twins. After I found out, the dreams changed to only one baby, but it was usually that I had given birth to one twin and the other was still inside!

I've never had a singleton pregnancy, so I can't compare, but some of my earliest symptoms were:

Sore breasts- this lasted from 3 weeks until about 10 weeks
Nausea- I can't really call it morning sickness, since it was all day every day. Started at 6 weeks and lasted until 25 weeks or so, although it started getting better at 12 weeks. From 6-12 weeks it was so bad, I had to take Zofran 3 times a day, and even then I was losing weight.
Tiredness- in the first trimester, I was tired pretty much all the time, even though I was sleeping pretty well at night. I would wake up tired, drag myself through the day, and collapse on the couch as soon as I got home at night. I usually fell into bed at about 8pm. It got better in the second trimester, but I still need about 9-10 hours of sleep at night and sometimes take a nap during the day too.

It really hasn't been all that different from my singleton pregnancies. I have a bit worse MS, but it's still not really all that bad.

ooh crazy dreams totally. last night i dreamt you could see the whole outline of the babies through my skin. like total spines etc. weird
