I just found out that I am pregnant again after my ectopic and subsequent surgery to remove my left tube in April of this year. After my surgery I was told to contact the EPAU at the hospital as soon as I received a positive pregnancy test which I did yesterday. I was given an appointment for this Thursday which will put me at 4+4 going by my LMP which I know is very early. I am aware that even on an internal scan it is unlikely that they will be able to see anything but I don't know what else they will do. Will they try a scan? Will they take bloods? Has anyone got any experience with such an early appointment? I'd just like to have an idea of what to expect.

Hi, congratulations.
I had an ectopic in October and am now TTC but my GP told me that once I get a BFP to call them and they'll do a blood test at around 6 weeks and if the HCG level is high enough then they'll refer me on to the EPU for a scan.
So I can understand why you're questioning what to expect when you are so early. Maybe the EPU will do bloods? I don't imagine they'll scan this early but you never know!

Hey how did your appointment go today? Did they scan or take bloods?

They didn't scan me but they did take blood. My levels are up at 1400 which apparently should be enough to see something on the scan so I'm going back in on Monday. Fingers crossed little bean is in the place!

Thank you.

Had my scan yesterday and we saw the gestational sac and yolk sac so they have effectively ruled out another ectopic. I've to go back on the 30th of July which puts me at 6+4 for another scan.

Yey great news. Gives me hope of a BFP with one tube.

My mum went on to have four successful pregnancies, one of which was twins, with only one tube after an ectopic. That's what I always remind myself when I worry about if having one tube lowers my chances of BFPs!
