Early miscarriage

I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago now. I was travelling to my new house, as I was moving across the country and I started bleeding. Unsure where the nearest hospital was I had to ring an ambulance, which took me to the hospital. I had my hcg tested and it was almost 10000, which seemed ok considering I was a day under 8weeks, but when they did the scan I only measured 5 weeks, no fetal pole or yolk sak and of course no heartbeat. Now I’ve moved and am in my new area, I’ve had a hard time getting a second scan(which they ask me to get, in my new area because they couldn’t say the baby had stopped growing 100% because 5weeks is early to tell and I hadn’t had a previous scan to compare too).
But why would if my hcg been so high for 5 weeks? I read the normal range is 18-7340
My LMP was end of January(23rd I think) but unsure as wasn’t tracking
I got my first bfp February 22nd, so it would of been impossible to be 5 weeks on March 22nd right?
I know it’s over, but these are ok just questions I am wondering to myself. Plus I only bled for a week, is that normal?

Firstly, im sorry for your loss.

I had a mc on 17th march and only bled for 3 days heavy and 2 days lightly, so id say a week is quite normal. Not sure about the levels as mine were already down to 470 by the time i got to the hospital.

Have you taken another test to confirm its negative?

No I haven’t taken another test. I can’t bring myself to do it in case it is still positive and I get my hopes up to then get to the hospital for the scan and they confirm it’s a miscarriage. Should all hcg be gone by now?

I can only assume as mine dropped from 470 on march 17th to 45 just 3 days later.. although i have seen people on here who had much higher levels than mine and theirs have taken at least a month if not longer to drop.
Honestly id advise taking a test, then getting in touch with your local hospital and explaining the situation. That way you'll know either way. My hpt was negative on Saturday which was 3 weeks to the day since mc.

It took about 6 weeks for my tests to completely return to negative but they were quite faint after the 1st week.

And thanks bunny, I’ve managed to get a scan for Friday morning so will get confirmation then now

Thanks bb currently waiting for AF/a bfp (9dpo today). Hoping for a christmas miracle.... bfns so far though but still early...
