I'm thinking of getting an early scan done privately as I just want to put my mind at ease, for a short time at lease lol

I'm so paranoid that I'm having an ectopic pregnancy, or that something else is wrong, I think I'm just worrying a tad too much but I keep working my self up with every twinge, I'm thinking at least if I get an early scan and everythings ok I will be able relax a little and know that the pains I'm experiencing are normal

BUT now I'm worried that it may cause even more worry if perhaps I'm earlier than I thought and they don't see anything or can't detect a heartbeat

What are your thoughts? Any advice? x

Sorry posted in wrong forum!! Should be in first tri, is there any chance it could be moved?

Apologies! x

I'm sure having it here is fine :)

I'm having the same dilemma. I asked for an erly scan and have got one booked for 11.5 weeks, which isnt really early!

I'm going to hold out as long as possible ~(at least 8 weeks for sure) and then go for a private one.

With my last pg I had a scan at 6 weeks and we could clearly see a blob beating up and down. They can even do internal scans so I think you'll be fine to go any point from now. But I think you'll just be so much more relieved the later you can manage to leave it as you'll see more and will be further along.

Also, don't forget, if you haven't had any bleeding/back cramps etc then chances are things are fine. xx

GL deciding xx

Hi Mrs Dubs - if you want a private scan go for it. As Kanga says tho leave it till at least 8 weeks by your dates. Then even if you are out by a few days you should still be able to see a baby with heartbeat. I had a scan last week at 8+1 and it was very clear. I was advised by the epu not to have an early scan b4 8 weeks.

Good luck. :hugs:

Hi Mrs Dubs,

I had an early scan done privately and I'm so glad I did - I can definitely recommend it. I waited until I was over 8 weeks (going by my LMP) so that I could be fairly sure of seeing something even if my dates were a bit out, which was a good job because I was only 7+2 it turned out. If I'd have gone much earlier there might not have been a heartbeat to see yet and I'd have been so much more worried then.

Good luck with everything.

I also had an early scan at 8weeks - Id recommend that as a good week to have a scan.
