I will be having four 3-4 yr olds at my house for the holidays so I was wondering if anyone would like to share some neat holiday crafts ?

i remember one we did when i was in nursery, it was making snowmen. basically a lump of clay you make into a snowman then paint it white and give it eyes etc. my mum still has the ones my brother and i made at around age 3!!

bookmarks - pieces of card, glitter??? pencils/crayons etc or pics from magazines and glue - let them decorate how they want, can be laminated and have a hole pput in bottom with tassles if required.

paper chains - you need cut loads of strips of paper and let them glue them together.

snowflakes - depends if you can let them use safety scissors - you cut circles paper and fold them, they cut bits out and make pretty patterns.

paper chain dolls - fold long piece paper concertina style and draw round a cookie cutter person, cut out and let them decorate each person in chain.

calendars - you print out the main calendar bit at bottom of page and leave big square at top where kids can make it their own by drawing, glueing etc.

hand and foot reindeer - paint foot brown and place in middle of paper, paint hands yellow or light brown and put 1 either side of toes to make antlers. when dry draw on eyes and nose (or use the googly eyes you can buy)

hand and foot angels - paint foot a pale yellow or pink, place in middle of page, then turn paper upside down so toes are at bottom, paint hands white (you can add small amount glitter) and place 1 each side half way down foot to make wings. when dry draw a face on.

playdough - simple to make and gives hours of fun

saltdough - similar to playdough, but can make ornamnets etc that you cook to make solid and can the be painted.

rocks - get some smooth rocks and paint, let the kids paint own pictures on them, if to stay indoors can be left as are, if to go back outside need varnisging when paint dry.

gingerbread reindeers - make gingerbread as per any receipe, use man cutters and cook as normal, when cooked and cooled turn upside down so feet are at top. these are now antlers, using icing pens and choc spinkles add a line down the feet and legs to the head. the arms are now ears, add small blob of icing. the head of man is the face of reindeer so add eyes, nose and mouth. my 4yr old loved doing these last year.

hope some of these help.

just thought wilkinsons have craft packs at 97/98p each, including hand pupets etc.
