Hi I let Lo have a few nibbles on a biscuit and then I looked at the packet and it says from 12 months (he is 8.5 months) The ingredients have Honey in. It was an apple and cinnamon biscotti biscuit. I am so upset cant believe I didnt read the packet properly. Will he be ok? Thanks in advance x

It's fine. It does have honey in it, but as it's a biscuit, it will have been cooked. The risk of botulism is really with raw honey, like the kind you would drizzle on porridge. But really, if you think about it, how many times have you gotten botulism from eating honey yourself? Or do you know anyone who has? It is a possible risk. But it's very, very, very rare and highly unlikely even from raw honey. Your LO will be fine.

Thank you. Im just really upset with myself that I didnt check it first!! Xx

Cooking doesn't kill botulism spores. That being said, I am sure your LO will be absolutely fine, the amount of honey in the biscuit will be small, and it isn't like all honey has botulism spores in it. I can understand your panic, but don't beat yourself up and I'm sure he'll be fine xx

I think they've also changed the guidelines on honey?
