Does anyone have troubles eating healthy in the 1st trimester? I feel like I have the stomach flu or something because only certain foods will sound good to me and only when my body feels like it's ready to eat. Before prego, I ate grilled chicken, veggies, fruits and healthy stuff, but now my body doesn't want that stuff. I try to make my body crave it, but it only makes me feel ill just thinking about it. Will this pass eventually? I feel horrible for eating mac n' cheese, some fast food etc... I really don't think that my eating is horrible but I usually don't eat high calorie foods. I just want to get back to my normal eating. Usually it's dinner time that I eat the fattier foods. Anyone else experience this?

It's funny...i've actually been having the opposite problem...Guess I shouldn't complain. But I normally have a terrible sweet tooth, and now anything sweet (candy, cookies, fudge...) all turn my stomach!

My big problem is that I'm finding that I'm just not much hungry for anything, good or bad...I kinda just have to force food down. I haven't had any bad morning sickness (yet) though the definitely lack of appetite makes it difficult to eat...

I haven't had morning sickness either (hope I don't), but I just feel queasy or nausea every day. I'm like you, I pretty much have to force food down. Just like yesterday, I ate kind of a big breakfast at 9:30, well around 3:30 I realized that I haven't eaten anything since breakfast so I snacked on baked Cheetos. I just want to eat healthy again, hopefully baby will let me soon. You're lucky that you're the opposite.

I am having the same problem, i used eat very healthy but i only fancy fatty foods/takeaways at the moment. I also think by the time i finish work i can't be bothered as too tired to go home and start preparing a meal so have been going through the drive thru on my way home! Going to try and cut down tho now!

i have been and bought low fat biscuits and baked walkers crisps as i feel sick all day and eating is the only way to stop it

my body only seems to want carbs
bread or chips or popcorn, i am not that much of a healthy eater but i do wish i could eat those foods again like chicken and veggies

i feel like im never going to have an appetite ever again but my friends with kids say that it will get better in the second tri- here's hoping!

I have the same problem, some of the veggies that I used to like I can't even stand the thought of now. Last night we were eating corn and some pasta and my DH mentioned to me that the corn smelled like Chinese food, I had to stop eating dinner I got so sick!

oh yes!
I feel so guilty abotu the 2 McDs I've had in the last 2 weeks....but oh they were good! Baby loves a cheese burger....not me you understand....baby...

am meant to be making fresh pumpkin soup tonight.......turns my stomach.....

You're not alone! Lately, my body wants high fat foods. I find that when i eat fatty foods, I don't get sick to my stomach. Previously my diet was less than 30% fat.

Baby does not make eating healthy easy. Healthy things like cucumbers (though curiously i can eat pickles with no problems) and dark leafy greens (so long broccoli) give me serious heartburn.

Lately a certain Italian buffet has been my friend. Mmmmmmmm bread!!! At first my diet was brown rice centered, now its a lil nasty to me. All of a sudden i started wanting ciabatta bread.

I feel very bad when i don't eat enough. Last night I had bad heartburn and was kinda busy so I had applejuice and crackers for dinner.

The two things I've found that I just *can't* stomach are cookies and yogurt. Yogurt is normally my quick and easy healthy snack, and with all the calcium, seems like it would be good for pregnancy, but my stomach does NOT like it! So now I have to try to find another good snack...unfortunately, yesterday it was a chik-fil-a sandwich. I felt guilty, but the bean liked it.

I did NOT manage it at all  But I had been on a very high fibre diet before pregnancy and my theory is, that depending on your regular diet, your body craves things it needs rather than what may be healthy and hence we eat either healthier or bad :(

Thank you all for your posts, it's good to see that i'm not alone. I bought some chicken the other day so I'm going to have my husband grill it and I'm gonna try to eat healthier dinners even if the only healthy thing is the meat, lol!!! Anything has to be better than last night's dinner (mac ' n cheese and a few jalapeno poppers). Good luck to us all for eating healthier (as long as our bun in the oven lets us).

I've had the same problem... Before I got pregnant/morning sickness, I ate salads daily. For dinner, I'd throw in some grilled chicken. I had gained a bit of weight so I was trying to lose it again... Once I started getting the morning sickness, I couldn't eat. I ate saltines, and drank juice and that was it. After a little bit tho, ALL I wanted to eat was Mexican food!! My family and friends probably think I'm crazy cause its not good for me at all, but even the other day, we were going for a girls lunch and debating where we should go. I was like, how about mexican. And they just laugh now...

I would say, especially during the 1st tri, eat what you can. It was difficult for me to eat anything, so what I could, I ate. I think for me around 19-20 weeks my appetite started coming back like double time. Now I can eat a variety of foods, and try to keep the house stocked with healthier food. I still cant eat salads like I used to... I can eat some from restaurants, but only certain ones. And even now, thinking about broccoli makes me nauseas. But just eat what you can, weight gain is good for baby, and you will be able to lose it as soon as he/she is born.
