Hi,

I'm just looking for anyone else that has experienced this type of ectopic pregnancy. It was confirmed on 5/1/2017 that my twins were both implanted into my c-section scar. I was 6+2 weeks and saw 2 heartbeats that morning. I had a scan 7 days before where they thought I was about to miscarry as the sacs were so low so this was my follow up scan. I had an ultrasound guided D&C that evening. I'm still bleeding it slows down and then starts up heavy again. I was told I can't TTC for 12 months by my consultant. This is the hardest thing I've ever been through, I'm very up and down at the moment. And for the first time in my life I'm trying to block it all out as I can't cope with it, which is very unusual for me as I deal with things well and can talk openly to those around me.

Thank you. X

Oh my goodness....I was reading up on that and it is such a small percentage of ectopic pregnancies implanting in the csection scar. I am so sorry this has happened to you. I guess your body needs time to heal before trying to conceive again so that this doesn't happen again. My heart breaks for you.

How are you doing? Feeling?? Sending hugs

Thank you for the reply.

I’m still up and down, usually when I’m getting on with day to day things and I hear or see something or it just hits me and I end up in tears. Also hard seeing friends post pregnancy announcements on fb that are due in July & August as that’s when I would have been due with my m/c and my twins with the ectopic. I’m happy for them, but it’s hard seeing the scan photos thinking that would be my babies now.

Xx

Hello

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I too went through this. My ectopic on my scar was after my 2nd c-section. I wanted to let you know that I had a successful pregnancy after this. You are lucky that they caught this early. For me it was missed, I miscarried but not completely then some tissue was stuck in my scar, it continued to grow, and I ended up with a mass all the way through my uterus wall.

My ectopic on my scar was in October 2013 it was January 2014 before I had not more hcg in my blood work.. this felt like an eternity at the time. They checked the thickness of my uterus wall several times through a saline infused ultrasound. I was given the okay in August 2014 to have another baby. I got pregnant in September 2014, I miscarried again. I then got pregnant in February 2015 and had a beautiful daughter in Oct. 2015. They did watch me very closely, checked first where baby implanted, then where the placenta implanted. My uterus wall did get very very thin, I had my baby at 37+1 via c-section, the doctor said my uterus wall was very very thin, about 1 mm thick.. she said I could not have any more, it would be too risky. I was told that when I sectioned that I was within 24 hours of rupturing.. super scary.

But my daughter is beautiful so well worth it.

Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

Hi Kim,

Thank you so much for the reply, it’s so rare so I haven’t got to speak to many women who have experienced the same thing.

I am sorry for your loss and happy to hear you have since had your rainbow baby.

I finally got a negative test around 6 weeks later. I only had an early scan because I’d had a miscarriage the month before I fell pregnant with my twins. The consultant has said I will have an early scan next time too to check where baby has implanted. I saw her earlier this week for my follow up. Physically she said my cycles have returned to Normal. And originally I’d been told I’m not allowed to TTC again for 12 months due to healing time. But I’ve been given the green light to try again earlier in September which is when I wanted to try again after the summer holidays. They don’t test in the UK the thickness of your uterine wall as I asked her the other day. I’ve also had 2 previous emergency sections. And I will have to have another again. But I know I will be closely monitored after problems in my previous pregnancies too. It’s hard and mentally I’m still not coping. I’m going to get some counselling.

I'm so glad that you are getting counselling.

I was able to check the thickness of my uterine wall .. but to be honest no one knew what was "safe" or "thick enough". My doctor told me that how thick normal uterine walls are is not data that's collected.

What happened to us really is rare.. when I ended up at the hospital, 2 senior OB's with over 30 yrs experience each had both never seen one in person... I was kept in hospital for a whole week.. and was at risk of needing a hysterectomy at any moment. I cried a lot that week.. and coming months. It's really hard for the decision to stop having kids to be made for you..

The 1st pregnancy after my ectopic, i was surprised at how terrified I was... and how I somehow felt relieved when I miscarried... which is terrible. To the point that we decided that we were done. Then getting pregnant 5 months later.. after having sex 1 time that month.. lol.. well I guess it was meant to be. I was calmer, but still found that it was my most stressful pregnancy. I wasn't allowed to contract AT ALL. Initially, they told me they would section me at 35 weeks, then 38... but I started having a lot of braxton hicks at 35 weeks, I was put on strict bed rest they wanted to get me to 37 weeks.. I went in to have her at 37+1 and I was contracting, they rushed me in, since they didn't want me to rupture.. they told me that they could see my baby before cutting my uterus.. since it was so thin...

All of this to say, the uterus is an amazing muscle, my scenario was unique, since i almost ruptured from my ectopic... sounds like to me that your uterus is still strong, you were just unlucky as to where the twins implanted.

Good luck moving forward.

Kim
