Hi ladies

Well don't want to bore you too much, but had appt with dr this wk to discuss the reasons for 3rd IVF failure & he was lovely & basically said that now we'd had 3 attempts & the results are always the same, (eg good amount of eggs, good fertilisation on the 1st day, but then always only 2 embies to transfer, not always of good quality & the other embies block), that the problem was with my eggs & that they're probably worse than they first expected. This is probably the reason for my mmc's also. Managed not to cry in his office, so was quite proud of myself!! So, donor eggs were mentioned, but he also said they were trying another treatment with women who were around my age, but had this problem & had had some good results. It involves taking 2 pills for approx 6wks before an IVF treatment which has shown to improve egg quality in some. So, we're going to give that a go, but I have this feeling that by the end of the year I'm going to have to be looking at donor eggs, which is a huge decision. But we'll see. I never expected when I first started ttc that I'd be here saying all this!! Just wondered if anyone in the same situation?

Thanks for listening (again)!!

Love Jayne x

Me (32), DH (32)

unexplained infertility - 1st pg natural (after 2yr ttc) but mmc

1st IVF '07 - BFP but another mmc

3rd IVF '08- BFN & found to have poor egg quality!

Sorry to hear your news hun. Hopefully the tablets will work for you and you won't need to make a decision about donor eggs.

I hope it all turns out well for you. The thing about donor eggs is (and this is something I've been thinking about, recently) you still nurture the baby. You still make it grow. You still feed it, nourish it, keep it warm, keep it safe. It still bonds with you when it's born. Your breasts still produce the milk that sustains it.

in essence, it's still your child. That's a good way of thinking of it, i reckon.

Hi Jayne

I too have had 3 failed IVF's but not quite ready to give up and as there are no other problems think egg quality might be an issue. We are going back to the clinic sometime this year (when I've built myself back up to it) and would welcome any advice/information with regards to the pills you were talking about as I've never heard of these.

Thanks

MrsB

Hi MrsB, will let you know....due to go back in Feb to start, the problem is I'm English but living in Spain & having private care there, so sometimes the tablets they prescribe have the Spanish name & I know as stupid as it sounds, I took the prescription but didn't really ask what they were, (we had got a lot to take in), but will have a look & let you know.

Good luck
Love Jayne x

Glad to hear you have a plan of action and something is being done! Good luck and keep us posted.
