Elective C-Section?

Thanks for the responses. For everyone commenting about my reasonings for why I would choose an elective over a natural...I've always had issues with UTI's (like 7 or 8 in one year) and on and off issues with painful sex and things like that. And I don't want tears or anything like that to make things worse. I don't mean to sound vain or "posh" as someone said but I don't want to be miserable for months after a vaginal birth either.

One of my friends had a vaginal birth 5 months ago and is still in pain from it. Both my mother in law and my mother didn't have any issues with their csections and had fast recoveries. So I'm not worried. I have spoken to my doctor about it and she thinks it is a good option for me. There are quite a few doctors here who do elective sections.

Great examples of anecdotal evidence. The experiences of one or two people don't equal the general experience of the masses or the risk to yourself of a difficult c-section recovery or easy vaginal delivery recovery.

Sex felt funny for about 3 months after my forceps delivery, for which they had to cut me to get the forceps in. Sex felt funny for about 9 months after my c-section for any face to face position due to the damage to the nerves when they cut through the layers of tissue.

And of course your doctor is happy with a c-section, she gets paid more and won't get called in at a funny hour. I don't think you are being too posh to push, I think your being a little naive in opting for major surgery over a natural human process for what appear to be rather unnecessary reasons.

Everybody has their own opinion. I was asking for information on others experiences with it. I didn't ask to be talked down to or judged. Thanks.

Sounds like you'd already made up your mind and only wanted people who agreed with and supported that decision, I'm sorry but that's how it reads. I do wish you luck though.

Not at all. I wanted to hear other peoples experiences going through a c section good and bad. But I didn't ask to be called posh, naive or be told why my reasonings aren't good enough. Sorry if I'm coming off rude but I genuinely wanted to hear other women's stories.

There is a c-section section here where you will probably get better responses and stories from women there? I had an EMCS and loved it, asides from the chaos that comes with it when they rush you into OR, but it was a very pleasant experience and was about no problems the next morning, the pain was easy to deal with and sex was not a problem for me. I also suffer from UTI's and i must admit, the catheter did give me abit of an infection. But on the whole the experience was pleasant, no problems, quick recovery. There are two women in my family that battled with child birth vaginally. One baby ended up with some serious issues and the other had to have an EMCS as the umbilical cord was too short. I ended up with one after my little miss refused to come down and i was not dialating quick enough. Either way have draw backs and complications.

Hi!
I had a c section with lo, my recovery was straight forward and I had hardly any pain and was back to doing my regular stuff after 2 weeks.
However, I would say that I don't think UTI's are cause for a C section.
I can't have vaginal births as I am high risk for uterine rupture but I sure would love to.
I dont understand personally why any woman would want to have a c section over a vaginal birth for the majority the recovery time is longer and harder and I think people forget its major surgery.
Maybe watch a video on youtube of a c section being performed. It isn't pleasant viewing.
You have obviously made up you mind so I will say good luck with it but I know here in Ireland you would never get a c section for the reasons mentioned.
I really wish I had the option you had because if I had I would be definitely opting for a natural birth even though my c section was "easy".
Vaginal births are the way things are meant to be unless you or the baby are in danger.
Just my opinion though.
