When exactly do you count CD1?

In the past, I've always counted it as the first day I see red.

But recently, I read on an over 40 fertility website that the best day to count CD1 is the first day you have a heavy flow. For me this is always the 2nd day after I see red.

Confused. But probably won't make much of a difference being only 1 day off.

My FS told me it's the first day of full flow (as opposed to spotting, or seeing brown or red when you wipe but not in your panties). Still pretty subjective, though! Hope that helps.

I wouldn't count it as heavy flow, just as the above post says, first day of flow, like you need protection, not pantyliner, ok? :)

Good luck!

Yep, agree with above posts. I use CBFM and it counts CD1 as day after you get initial spotting/breakthrough - so first day of proper flow (heavy or not). xx

Yeh my clinic say CD1 is first day of a flow and not spotting
