i was applying some canestan yesterday when realised something was not right inside my vagina. it felt swollen and weird, like something was in the wrong place. i got a mirror to have a look and saw what i thought was my cervix. then i googled (as you do!) 'position of cervix at 26 weeks' and found cases of premature labour etc etc. i got really worried so i called the 24hs midwives. she said to go and get checked just in case.

after examination both the midwife and the doctor said it was just the internal wall, something like a mild prolapse due to the extra weight. i was so relieved that it was not my cervix and the baby was ok that i did not ask anything else! :dohh: now i am really worried about it!
does anyone know if there anything that i can do to make it better? will it interfere during birth?!

i will def ask my midwife all this, but if anyone has some info i will really appreciate it! thanks!

it shouldn't interfere during birth! i can't see why it would.
my vaginal walls are sooooo closed together when im pregnant. like i can almost feel it. it's weird!

Perhaps do lots of pelvic floor exercises and try not to worry, pregnancy does some very weird things to our genitalia!

oh yes I have experience of this unfortunately lol, in my last pregnancy I had exactly the same thing around the same time as u and I know it was cos I got very constiapted and strained a lot as well as the extra weight from baby got checked out and they said it was a mild prolapse, it didnt interfere with my pregnancy or labour and I gave birth to a healthy 8lb 5oz baby boy normal delivey at 40+3. It slowly improved after delivery I just had to do lots of pelvic floor exercises and unless I get very constipated it never really bothered me. I am now nearly 21weeks and have got the same problem again except this time ive been getting a heavy dragging feeling 2 and I have spd which doesnt help so am waiting for physio and a consultant appt but my own doctor and midwife are not to concerned and tell me its common in pregnancy, just something else they dont tell us about lol. Definitly do not use google cos I convinced myself I was in prem labour and everything frightened the life out of me xxx

thanks katree - glad (sorry!) i'm not the only one :hugs:
i came back from hospital last night, quite relieved that everything was ok with the pregnancy (had convinced myself i might deliver anytime soon :dohh:) but then when lying in bed started to get really worried about what was going to happen to me!
do you think it's worth doing (even more) pelvic floor exercises now?

thanksxx

Try not to worry Hun I've got on too! Mine appeared after my 2nd DD was born. It comes and goes but never causes me any problems. Xxx

Definitly worth doing pelvic floor exercises and my dr told me sex 2 lol though that was after pregnancy. If its only mild theres nothing they will do about it anyway. I was exactly the same as u when it first happened to me when I was pregnant with my ds - terrified and u always think the worse. Ive posted on here before about prolapse and there's quite a few ladies who have the same problem but it hasnt been a problem for them either other than being uncomfortable (sometimes) and not very nice. xxx

many thanks ladies, i feel better now!
i'll try my best and do millions of pelvic floor exercises!
