title pretty much says it all.
i'm 4 days PP and absolutely MISERABLE with engorgement.
any recommendations on how to make the milk go away faster?

Good fitting bra, like a sports bra will help.

Cabbage leaves! Sounds stupid but leaves cold from the fridge do seem to stop the pain of them.

You can use ibuprofen or paracetomol for the pain.

Cold compresses.

Don't do warm compresses, expressing or hot baths, encourages more milk production.

It might take a couple of days but will ease!

also binding your breasts (ive got a really tight boob tube over my bra means that there is no space for your breasts to produce milk :)
my mum and my midwife told me to do it and its worked

Get the tightest bra possible and then wrap yourself with an ace bandage fairly tightly. For the pain take tylenol (not sure of the UK brand) and put ice packs on your breast. Like others have said don't put anything warm or hot on them, it only makes it worse and will make you produce more milk. Only take off the bra and wrap when you take a shower or bath and don't let the water hit your breast directly. It will take about 3 days for your milk to dry up.

Rebecca, I actually heard that binding your breasts will actually bring more pain?
But a good sports bra, chilled cabbage leaves, ibuprofen. Don't apply heat of any sort. Expressing a little milk. Things like that. Hope I helped, it doesn't last long!
:hugs:

I had been told about this method by a few people too, it sounds crazy but apparently it does work!

Definitely the chilled cabbage leaves! Savoy cabbage is the best one I found (green crinkly stuff!). Just remember to change them, otherwise you end up with cheesy cabbage leaves

I breastfed this time so well... lol I didn't need to dry it up, but with my son my doctor told me hot showers will help with the pain and tenderness of engorgement, and I've heard the cabbage leaves work real good!

I found hand expressing just a tiny amount to make the rock hard heavy feeling go away just don't do it until they're painful and only do a tiny bit to make them less painful, doing anymore will encourage them to produce more. Take ibruprofen, as helps with inflammation and I found putting a damp flannel in the fridge for an hour or two then apply to boobs, these all worked for me.
I know how you feel though, I had terrible baby blues aswell and I felt like they'd never stop hurting and was just another thing making me miserable, chin up though, it does go away in probably a few days! :)
