Hi everyone!

I'm not breastfeeding and my milk came in 4 days ago. My boobs became unbelievably engorged almost immediately and the pain was horrible! So today is day 4 of engorgement, and although the pain has subsided, my boobs are still HUGE and rock hard! And I still have pain, but it comes and goes (but seems to get a lot worse at night).

How long until my milk dries up and my boobs go back to normal?! I miss my old boobs! With my son, I remember getting severly engorged but I really don't remember how long it lasted for.

Other people will have proper advice for you but i hear savoy cabbage leaves cooled in the fridge are good and putting cool flannels on them. I dont know how long it takes for them to dry up when theyre in the the throws of making loads and loads in the beginning. I gave up 3 weeks ago and mine are still going! Not badly but there is still milk there. I got engorged even when i gave up gradually but i just hand expressed enough to make me comfortable and that subsided pretty quickly but as i say, others will be able to advise you better.

Thanks for your reply! I did the cabbage leaves in the beginning when the pain was horrible and it did help! I've also been taking sudafed and it seems to be helping. I'll be happy when this ends!

Do the cabbage leaves again (if you can stand it lol) and let the water run on your breasts for a few minutes in a hot shower, even twice a day if you can manage it. You should at least start to feel better in a few days and most women are just barely leaking after about 2 weeks if at all.

also drinking or eating peppermint seems to help. There are a couple of other things that will help dry up milk and funny enough they are on the kellymom website for breastfeeding. might have a look.
