I was adament last time that I wouldn't have one - and I stuck to that. But... there were lots of complications and I'm high risk this time for pre-e, retained placenta and blood loss.

So I'm trying to decide if I should be less stubborn this time. I think they may be more inclined this time to do a c-section (which I really don't want) if things look like they aren't going right. I would absolutley want my DH in with me so if it was an emergency I'd need to already have had the epidural. I don't like the idea of slowing natural labour down though.

Does anyone know if an epidural would increase or decrease your chances of blood loss? I don't want to do anything that might increase chances of complications but I would like to be more consious this time and be sure DH can be with me for the whole thing. I would hate to be put to sleep and then wake up after the baby was born
