anyone here on lamictal for epilepsy?

Sorry, not on lamictal. But I am on Keppra and Vimpat for epilepsy. There is some new research out there for pregnancy and seizure meds. Do you have specific questions/concerns?

I've been taking Lamictal for a while and I have a perfectly healthy 10 month old boy! My neurologist said that it is one of the safer drugs to take while pregnant.

My doctor put me on it for that reason too, but I had a horrible time on it. It actually made my seizures increase and become more severe. I am happy to hear that it worked out great for you and your son- congrats!

Congrats on your pregnancy! How far along are you?

Thanks! I am 11 weeks. I am very nervous about the meds + pregnancy, even though I read all the research and spoke to a ton of doctors before getting pregnant.

I know how you feel! It sounds like you have your bases covered though, which is good! I remember having to take a little extra folic acid before ttc, and my OB referred me to a perinatologist for extra monitoring (I love those level 2 ultrasounds!). It was reassuring!

I have my first perinatologist appointment this Friday. I have been on 5 mgs of folic acid since about 6-8 months before TTC and I am still on it. I am only 11 weeks, but I have already had 3 scans. Seeing a moving, growing baby with a strong heartbeat does help a lot. Hearing that you have a healthy baby also makes me feel better- thanks.
