eptopic??

Hi all i came on here earlier in the week to announce my bfp,however i have been having slight brwn discharge so my doctor sent me for a scan im now 5 weeks and the scan showed nothing in the womb and a slight abnormality in my right tube.i was told this is more than likely an eptopic pregnancy but im finding this hard to believe as ive got no pain or bleeding!anyone been through the same thing??

I'm afraid all you can do is wait. At 5w bubba is too small to show up on scan whether in right or wrong place, and I believe wouldn't cause ectopic pain for a few more weeks. There's no reason to be overly concerned at the moment - there is nothing definite to suggest ectopic and brown spotting can happen for many reasons. Have they given you a date for another scan - in a weeks time they should be able to see where the sac is and then you'll know what's happening.

The doctor wanted me to make a choice on wether to have an injection or a operation today to "fix" it,but with no real proof and the fact i feel fine i refused and discharged myself earlier this evening,i have to go back tomorrow afternoon for a blood test to see if my hormone levels have gone up,if so then i should be ok and if not they will treat it as an eptopic

Hormone levels will still go up with ectopic. It is a pregnancy and your body treats as such and hormones rise, it's just that sac is in wrong place and as a result when it grows to a certain extent can cause serious problems. There's no way they should be 'fixing' it until a scan has shown the sac in your tube. Demand another scan at 6w. Sac should be visible then (bubba may be, mine was but not all are) Then you'll know for sure and if ectopic you will need treatment straight away - but it may well be that the sac is where it should be. My EPU don't scan anyone at under 6weeks as they know they are unlikely to see anything.

I know its dangerous for me to leave it if it is an eptopic but i simply cannot let them do anything without definate proof,i had an internal scan aswell as an ultrasound and still altho the lining of my womb is thickend they could see nothing,there is somthing on my left tube which they did first say could just be a cyst.The doctor even had the cheek to ask me why i was so upset!

i was at a risk for ectopic and asked on here. A lot of people said they never bled or got pain till they where 7 weeks and gone. That said till it was confirmed id have more scans

You shouldn't do anything without proof, as you say it could easily be a cyst or something on tube. It is just too early to see as yet - but hcg levels tomorrow won't give an answer. Only reason they'd drop is a miscarriage. Ask for a scan in a weeks time. It's only way you can know for sure.

It would be easier to accept they had seen anythin to prove it on the scans or if theyd have told me to go home and come back for more tests and scans.the doctor just said it was suspicious but still wanted me to go ahead and get rid of it

oh hun! Im sorry ur going thru this, i was monitored for the exact same thing hun...
I agree with u hun, i wouldn't even have contemplated having/taking anything to remove my baby until there was definite proof of where it was!

Luckily all turned out to be ok and I hope it works out the same way for u.

Thaks everybody you have all helped me realise i made the right decision leaving the hospital.This morning i have had red spotting still with no pain but am going back to hospital this evening for more blood tests though im expecting the worst!

Hi Hun just seen ur post I went through similar 5 wks ago at 4 wks they scanned me And saw smal amount of fluid in womB and also so something they weren't happy with on right tube I had no symptoms and held out another wk for another scanwhere at 5 wks yolk sac was seen but they still couldn't rule out ectopic as well in right tube I went do weekly scan so they could measure area on tube and in the end we sawbaby with heartbeat and they think that in my right tube was either failed ectopic or dueto previous infection hope this helps Heather x
