erratic hcg levels. anyone else?

I was wondering if anyone has experienced what I am right now and if so what the outcome was. When I went to ER for bleeding my hcg was 14 and I was told miscarriage. I had clots and everything. heavy bleeding. I went a week later to have my levels checked to make sure it was 0 or close to 0. It had gone to 97! So then I had it tested again 3 days later and it was down to 50! I am scheduled to go in on monday (5 days) and check again.

Has this happened to anyone? What could be going on? I was afraid of ectopic since I've had my tubal reversed, but I was told it isn't that. the kicker is that I never felt pregnant this time until after the miscarriage. I have been nauseous and fatigued for the past few days which makes it really hard knowing there is no baby.

Sorry for you loss hun.
I have unfortunately going throught this and the Dr. couldn't give me an explination. I think that as long as they have ruled out ectopic and your level are coming down, than you should be OK. It could be a small piece of tissue causing the erratic HcG levels. Are you going back for another beta test?

Yes, I go back on monday. Hopefully the levels will be doing what they need to so I can get on with things. My emotions are just all over the place right now!

I didn't have blood tests to check my HCG levels but I did use HPTs to check the levels myself so I could see when they were negative again. I felt more pregnant after my MC than before - peeing more, tired, sore boobs etc. And my HCG levels semed to fluctuate a bit - some days my positive result was stronger than other days. The worst bit was the symptoms though. Sorry you have to go through this

i had crazy levels too. i am seeing a fertility specialist so when i took my hpt and it was positive i called my doctor and he told me to go for hcg beta's. result came, and said i was def preg it was a 65. had to go back 2 days later to make sure they were going up (a healthy pregnancy should double ever 2 days) and they went down to like a 41 if i remember correctly. then again 2 days later and jumped to 97. the doctor started to worry, so i went back for another beta and then it was 200(something) and went back one last time and it went back down to a 23. i then had methrotrexate injections. as it was an ectopic. that was dec 17 i had my first injection, then the 2nd on dec 23. good luck to you and hope all will be well.
