What do you all think of the names Essie and Elsie? Is there one you prefer?

My daughters name emmie so want something that goes well.. But also an unusual name. We don't know any other emmies around us so want a unique name for this one too.

We may need to have her delivered any time from now so need to choose a name and quick lol

Elsie, everyone will probably think that's what it is if you pick (over the phone etc) essie anyway!

Of those two, I prefer Elsie with Emmie.

I think Essie sounds too much like Emmie and looks too 'similar' written down with that double consonant in the same place. But just my opinion.

Are you looking for another name beginning with an E? Or ending with an 'ie'?

Elsie (but then I'm biased!) I also think that Essie just looks too similar to Emmie with the double consonant, and agree that people might think you're saying Elsie anyway. If it's the similarity that you like about Essie though, what about Effie? I also like Edie and Elodie as other E and ie names.

I would also pick Elsie, Essie sounds harsh to me...

Essie sounds to me the same as essay . I think Elsie is pretty

I used to know a girl named Essence, who went by "Essie" as a nickname. Thought it was so pretty, but not as a full name. Would prefer Elsie.

Emmie & Elyse sounds beautiful together!

I love Essie but as a nickname - it doesn't really feel like a "full" name to me. So I would say Elsie or something that has Essie as a nickname (Esther comes to mind right away).

I prefer Essie but think it is too similar to Emmie (love Emmie btw!). Elsie is pretty too :)
