The cost of weddings are horrendous, even if you do them on the cheap. You might consider delaying the wedding and using your funds on housing.

yeah weddings are not cheap we are unemployed and saving atm its hard and family does help out but am looking at needing 3500 for everything thats every last detail and thats with cheap stuff and not a package deal.

sometimes when things go wrong these are blessings in disguise, I would save rather than get in debt for one day.

We are in the same situation! We are renting and trying to save, oh works full time whilst I work part time and we make it work but it has been tight with saving for a deposit but we are very close to buying our first house so it is possible! Work hard and it can be done.

Once we have our house, that is when we will save for wedding and have baby no 2. either that or have a very small family only wedding and then maybe in 10 years when you are more financially stable you can have a big wedding renewal celebration :)

We got married in Vegas, the whole thing was less than £2000 and that included 5 nights in Vegas. The actual wedding was £125 including photos.

Work through what the priorities are and if getting a house is the biggest priority focus on that and put the other things aside.

To us we wanted a marriage but were not too fussed about a wedding and definitely didn't want a big do so eloping was the best solution.we then saved what we would have spent on the wedding towards a deposit for our house.
