Hello all. Yesterday I had a horribly debilitating day and wondered if anyone has gone through anything similar.
Basically, my boyfriend's mother has come to visit for 10 days. She got here Tuesday. She's from Utah and is a nurse specialising in babies. Anyway, I've only met her once before, and while she is a very very nice woman, she is INCREDIBLY hard work, as she won't make a decision to save her life, yet whenever we suggest anything, she umms and errs until my head hurts!
ANYWAY, yesterday she wanted to go around Windsor... see the sights, the castle, take a tour, etc. So we headed over there around 11 AM. We parked up and got to the castle and stood in the queue for tickets, and after about 5 minutes, I got a really sharp pain in my chest. It was a really bad shooting pain in my left breast, which went from the right side of the breast to the underneath of the breast to under my left armpit. I couldn't take a deep breath, and I seriously wondered for a few minutes if I was having a heart attack. After ten more minutes in the queue, I was doubled over in pain (a position which seemed to help alleviate it), and once we got outside, I told them I needed to sit, so we got on a bench to take a rest.
My boyfriend was concerned and wanted to take me to A&E, but I thought it might just be a muscle pain as my back was also in agony. So I said we should wait. After about 15 minutes, the pain subsided enough for me to carry on, though my back was still really hurting and I was having intermittent chest pains.
We took the (LONG) tour through the castle, and unfortunately there was nowhere to stop and rest the entire time. We were in there for more than 90 minutes, and not a single bench or chair was on offer until one of the very last rooms. I was crying by the end and once again doubled over in pain.
Anyway, I worked through it and we finished the tours (another couple hours) and then went to lunch. Sitting was helpful and the pain was less, but as soon as I stood up from the table, my eyes filled with tears and I could hardly breathe again. My boyfriend practically carried me back to the car. Once in the car, I couldn't move without severe pain, but I still didn't want to go to the doctor, as BF's mom seemed to be judging me, and I didn't want to give in (this is probably all in my head, but I just felt like she thought I was being a baby).
When we got home, I went straight to bed and laid down. If I was on my back, the pain was okay, and I could deal with it. On my left side, I couldn't feel it at all. But if I laid on my right side, I felt like someone was stabbing my left breast with a knitting needle!
I took a 15 minute nap and then got up and went downstairs to lay on the couch. After another half hour or so, the pain was so bad that I couldn't breathe OR move. I finally gave in and said to my BF that I needed to go to the hospital, as the pain wasn't normal.
Before we went, I needed to wee, so I went up to the bathroom and relieved my bladder. I also let out a tiny tiny little fart (sorry for TMI). Then, when I stood up, the pain was gone. It just vanished. There was no indication whatsoever that I had been in pain.
I went downstairs and told them that there was no need for hospital after all. I was fine. I spent the rest of the evening feeling fine, and had a decent night's sleep. Woke up today and still no pain.
The ONLY thing I can think is that I had a bit of trapped wind which came out in that tiny fart. But would trapped wind be THAT high up that I could only feel it in my breast??
I'm only 16 weeks, so my uterus is still low, so it seems strange that I could feel such terrible pain so high up. Any idea what might have happened??
