Hi everyone. Currently working my usual night shift, I don't finish until 7 am. I am that tired I have a headache and feel dizzy.

Am I harming my babies by being so exhausted?

Scared!

I don't think you're harming them.

How well do you sleep during the day when you're on night shifts? Your body does need more rest during pregnancy, and probably even moreso with twins.

Sit and drink plenty of fluid. And be sure you're eating enough.

I also work 12 hour nights and it was exhausting me. I've had a word with my manager and asked to have my shifts split up abit so I can have a good rest in between shifts to see if that helps. I'm hoping to take mat leave at 37 weeks but if this exhaustion carrys on I may have to take it sooner x

I do get enough sleep of a morning so at least that's something.

Charlie Kay - my employer wouldn't split my shifts but agreed to reduce my hours, which obviously isn't the best when needing all the financial help with having twins, but atleast I feel better than I did x

I've no advice just wanted to say I completely know how you feel. I am absolutely exhausted doing mine now and I don't know how long it'll be manageable for. They've put me down for 5 in a row next week, after having a chat and saying I struggled with 3...!

Hi
Where are you? If you're in UK they can't make you work shifts which affect your pregnancy and also can't simply offer reduced hours as a solution. Check out your rights with your Union or citizens advice.
Xx

Zizzle - thats simply not good enough and your employer has no rightbto put you in harms way especially after you have had the discussion with them already. I woukd advise your manager that you are unable to work thosr shifts and back up with a midwife letter ir doctors note if need be xx

Hi mrs g, yeah im in the uk. To be honest the reduced hours are helping i manage to get more sleep before my shuft this way so im willing to keep this shift for now. I can always pick up overtime if needed x
