Experience after Implanon?

Hi ladies,

New to the forums (although have been looking on them for a while). Is anyone here trying to conceive following remove of the Implanon (contraceptive implant)? I need some help. I had mine removed 5 weeks ago and still no sign of AF. I used to come on 21 days after the end of my last one and had pretty much normal periods all the way through the implant. I had it in for just over 3 years.

How long should I wait for AF to show before going to the docs? Me and OH TTC#1 and want to make sure everything is in working order!

I got mine out 2 weeks ago tomorrow, no period yet but since yesterday ive had terrible cramp and nothing has came of it.

Yeah, I have had stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue etc since removal of the implanon but BFNs one three tests. I just want AF to show up so I can start properly tracking my ovulation.

I had my implant out on 23 February after having in for about 10 months. I didn't have any periods while I had it in and then 2 days after removal I bled for about a day. AF came 3 weeks after I had it taken out.

I had no idea about how long my cycle was or when I would be ovulating havinfg been on various types of birth control since I was 16 (now 29) so bought the cheap ovulation tests off the internet and finally got a postive OPK on Friday so hoping things are back to normal.

When I had mine removed the doctor said if AF hadn't come after 4 weeks to do a pregnancy test.

yeah i am the same i bought pregnancy tests and all are negative, i really thought AF was going show either yesterday or today cos of the cramps. I also wish it would hurry up so that i can track ovulation x

Hey ladies :wave: Hope your ok.

I had the implanon for 6 years. While i had it i had very irregular periods. maybe 3/4 a year, if that.

I had it removed 16th Feb 09. Got 1st AF 30 days later and again 30 days after that, then next cycle got my BFP. Then after my son was born i fell pg again before i got first af!!

So after being on contraception for 10 year (6 implanon) i had it removed and cycles were perfect, best theyve ever been.

They say your body is suppose to return to 'normal' straight after implant is taken out so would maybe contact doc soon if AF doesnt arrive

I hope your BFPs are just around the corner x

Although your body is supposed to return to normal quite quickly, everyone is different and it can sometimes take a while for your cycles to settle down.

Having said that, I had my implanon out on 26th Feb, ovulated just over two weeks later and got AF on 30th March, so 31 days after removal. I didn't have any periods with it in, so I was worried about having a messed up cycle, but I'm now feeling positive!

Thank you for your responses ladies. I will probably give it another week and then see the doctor if AF doesn't show. I'm used to being so regular and it's a bit weird not knowing when the dreaded witch will show!

hi i had mine removed after 6 years on 14th jan, had 2 afs since but think 1st was on time 2nd 39 days later, now im really confused when to expect af.

hi i had mine removed on the 12th april and AF came on the 16th and lasted 4/5 days, which is how my cycles used to be before having implanon. However, I have heard it can take 3 weeks for it to completely come out of your system but you can get pregnant from the day its taken out. Hope this helps.

Just popping in to say, I had my implant out on the 19th Jan, had a period 23rd feb, and got my BFP on 23rd march.

HI THERE! I had Implanon removed in March 2010 and received mother natures call the following month! Maybe I am the abnormal one! According to my doctor, a woman having implanon for 3+ yrs should not receive her monthly period for 3-6 mo. (No period= no ovulation) Just have to wait it out hun! Good luck to you!
