Experienced ladies: Induction ending in c-section...

I was induced just before 39 weeks. Everything about the labour was fine. Vala was happy and active the whole time. However I ended up having to have an EMCS because I stopped dilating at 9cm, Vala wouldnt descend and my body began pushing to try and get her out. 14 hour labour and roughly 30 minutes in theatre. It wasn't scary at all. I fully expected to be upset or terrified but I just wanted her out so at that point, I didnt really care. Even as I was laying there as they were slicing me open, I wasnt afraid. Quite the opposite in fact. I was so excited to meet my baby. The whole process was relatively stress free considering my body wasnt cooperating.

I was induced due to high bp at 40 weeks after 8 hours and babies HB dropping had a crash csection. Baby and I are fine, he is amazing and honestly I wish I hadn't worried so much about csections it was fine a bit weird hearing him cry when I couldn't feel anything and the green curtain like on OBEM but other than that it was ok and recovery flies by with a newborn to distract you and hormones help you heal quickly. Good luck! Xx

I went for induction at 38 weeks due to type 2 diabetes. I was 1cm dilated, baby was head down and midwife could feel his head when she checked my cervix. I had two prostin tablets, waters broken and 8 hours on the drip and I didn't go into Labour. After I had been on the drip for 8 hrs and barely felt any contractions I was only 2cm dilated so they decided to take me for an emcs. The section wasn't nearly as bad as I expected and I recovered really quickly. I was up showering after 12 hours. If you do end up having a section I recommend moving as soon as possible after your section but take it easy and keep up on the pain meds even if you feel ok :)

I was induced with both my boys i was high risk for both pregnancies so was booked for induction on both due dates

with my oldest his waters went a week early and had to be induced 24 hours later by drip and from start to finish my labour was 7 hours 49 minutes

my youngest had no indication of showing up so went in to be induced the day before his due date. Was induced via pessary and labour from start to finish was 18 minutes :/

so nether mine ended in c sec and my second son had no indication of arriving either

I second what someone else said epidural for induced birth I didn't have it with my second son because the labour was to quick but they are a lot more painful when your induced because your body is being forced to contract. as soon as my contractions started they were 15 seconds apart in full blown labour!

I was induced at 37 weeks and 5 days. Had the pessary put in at 11am. It seemed to work instantly. I started contracting with barely a minute in between. Tried having a bath and it didn't work. They broke my waters when I was 4cm dilated. It kicked off. I wasnt able to wee un aided because for some reason my kidneys wouldnt work. My daughter got stuck and her head was turned upwards. I got to 9cm and she refused to move. She started losing oxygen so they whisked down to theatre.

The csection didnt go easy. I lost a litre of blood.

I was induced at just over 37 weeks due to pre e. Pessary at 10pm. Contractions started mildly at 2am. 5.30am I was 0.5cm and had my waters broken to help ease the contractions as I didn't want an epidural and gas and air made me feel sick. 7am I was holding my baby! When I went in baby wasn't engaged and I wasn't dilated. Stay positive that you can do it!!

There's no reason you NEED to be induced if you don't want to, especially if you're worried about it. Just say no. If it's reassuring, my baby was high and never engaged before labour and not in a great position. I had an easy 11.5 hour labour, went from nothing to established labour, and had her naturally with no issues. You don't need to be dilated or effaced or engaged or any of that stuff in advance. Just believe in yourself and your body.

I had high blood pressure, closed, hard, long cervix at 37 weeks when I needed to be induced. Had cervadil induction to prep my cervix. I then had water broken and oxytocin.Induction began June 30th, LO was born vaginally, perfectly fine on July 5th. No talk of csection.

My waters broke at 40+6 and I went into labour. When I got to the hospital they were worried as my blood pressure was sky high and baby's heartbeat low. So they induced me to speed things up. Before that labour pain was bearable, after they induced it was awful, my body wasn't ready and in between contractions they tried to get blood from baby's head. No rest. They then decided for an emergency c section which was good as baby had the cord around her neck. I was relieved at that point and she was happy and healthy once she was out. good luck xx

Thank you so much to everyone who has been replying. I really appreciate your time. This is helping me to feel a little more prepared for things that might happen during the process next week. Certainly not looking forward to it, but I always feel easier in my mind if I am well informed. And it's nice to see some of you have had an better time with this than others - gives me a little hope I may be one of those, although according to my doctors it doesn't look like it.

That's not very positive of you dr, way to install some confidence!

I had an induction that did end up in a c section, 3 days long baby never engaged and basically couldn't fit. The midwives and Drs were fantastic at trying everything to avoid a c section, but honesty it wasn't so bad!

Go with a positive mindset, and remember who you are going to meet at the end!
