When you get a positive OPK it is letting you know that you caught the lh surge you could be catching it early or late. If you caught it early you might have another day of positive OPK. If you caught it late it'll probably get lighter the next day. Most opks say that you can get about two days of peak fertility. Basically that's the prime time to do the deed before ovulation. Once the OPK start to get lighter chances are you've already ovulated.
So once you get that positive you could ovulate within 12 to 36 hours just depending on where you caught the surge.
If you combine this with temping you can often narrow it down even more to the exact time you ovulated. (Within a few hours or day)
