extended breastfeeding

@ TashaAndBump
Juleika responds quite well to solids, although not eating everything yet, but with time she takes bigger and bigger portions and is requesting less and less breast!

but this is why I especially got so angry about my friend, cos she said, she would bf for 6 month and then get the baby used more and more to other stuff!

:dohh: this is EXACTLY what I am doing :dohh:

I have been trying Brennan with solids this last week and he is just not interested.

I'm planning to bf and when people have asked me if we've got bottles and which formula were going with (as in the make) and I tell them I'm breastfeeding, they look at me and go "oh right, erm, so you'll be doing the first couple weeks to get the colostrum into the baby and then go onto formula right???" and when I say no I plan to bf for the first year, they look at me like I have a green head!

My MIL is the worse, she told me that by feeling my lo past 6 months I'll be making it into a pervert who is addicted to boobs!![/QUOTE]

WHAT that is so ignorant!

Do people not realise what boobs are for in the first place? They're for feeding babies, its really their only significant purpose! We have these breasts for all of our adult life and yet we only have a few years in which they're actually useful. If you're chosing to breast feed I think it makes a lot of sense to feed for as long as 'possible'.

I think people forget that before 50years-ish ago, no one had any other choice but to boody feed

my MIL certainly doesnt seem to choose to remember thats how she was fed

yeah, and then they invented formula milk!

and they obviously really took the p*ss as I heard last time the babies were fed with formula on the infant ward and when the mothers tried to bf and it didn't work out, they were told they do not have enough milk!!!

wow, I thought I cannot believe it, when I heard this!

does anybody know whether this happened in UK as well. obviously it was like this in Germany!
