extremely tender boobs, im guessing its normal ?

hi.

I breastfed my first baby but only for a few weeks I gave in because of the pain of my sore nipples.

My breasts feel really full and they are soooo tender to touch and I cant remember if this is normal or not ? Is it becuase my milk has just come in ? I hand expressed some milk in the bath this morning and they did feel a bit better for it, should I carry on doing this ? Or get a pump ? Or grin and bear it and it will settle ? I feel like such a novice although Iv done it before!!!!

Also my nipples are starting to become cracked and sore like they did with my first Im pretty sure she is latched on ok, she's been feeding really well, is it normal for them to become cracked until they toughen up a bit ?

Any advice is appreciated girls, I jsut want to know whats normal and whats not!

hey Lauz! congrats!

the way i coped was just to hand express a little in the bath.. it helped so much! it is normal for your boobs to be tender and your nipples will be sore (theyre not used to being sucked 24/7!) but they will toughen up soon enough. try some nipple cream to sooth them.

Thanks so much hun, its just good to hear that its all normal! Looks like I was doing the right thing expressing in the bath then lol good to see Iv got something right! Iv been using the laniosah (sp!) and that does seem to help. Hopefully they will toughen up soon! Thanks again hun xxx

Yea totally normal... unfortunately. That part is not alot of fun! But it's worth it for the kids Hopefully I'll be able to breastfeed my 2nd as easily as my first!
