Well, I had my Factor V Leiden consultation yesterday with a specialist as well as another ultrasound (currently at 7w4d.) Ultrasound looked great, little jelly bean had a healthy audible heartbeat and everything.

I've known for a while now that I'm heterozygous FVL, and they confirmed yesterday that I am also homozygous MTHFR C677T. Prescribed daily injections of Lovenox, plus low-does aspirin (which I've already been taking.) I've never had a clot before, but my dad has DVT and has been various blood-thinners for decades. Went to fill my RX last night for the Lovenox (along with additional folic acid for the MTHFR C677T,) to find out that I hadn't met my insurance deductible yet and needed to pay $790 for a one-month supply of the Lovenox. Needless to say, hubby and I about shit ourselves. Yes, we could technically pay for and afford it, but that's an insane amount of money. So, no Lovenox for me (yet.) Switching to hubby's insurance after the end of the year, and he has no deductible and decent RX coverage. Calling Dr. today to see if I can use Heparin until insurance issues are resolved.

All of this is honestly taking some of the fun out of early pregnancy, being excited about the holidays, telling family and friends. I'm quite honestly terrified about the implications of FVL and MTHFR, particularly the risk past the 1st trimester of losses. It's hard to get excited at this point. I'm 22 years old and an otherwise very healthy individual... I hadn't expected so much complication (and risk of complication) in my first pregnancy.

Sorry, this is really primarily a rant of sorts. I'm bummed out and stressed out and trying to stay positive (hubby is adamant I do so,) but it's tough. Anyone else out there have experience with Lovenox/Heparin and/or FVL and MTHFR?

I'm sorry that you have to go through all of that. :hugs: That's ridiculously expensive. Since it's so important, it might be worth considering getting it for December. There may be prescription assistance programs you could look into as well, though I've only heard of them so I don't know too much. :nope:

Hi :hi: I have FVL as well, I just have the one gene mutation. I had no idea when I had my first son and had a very uneventful pregnancy with him. I was on lovenox and baby aspirin as soon as I got my bfp during my second pregnancy and it was also uneventful (besides all the bruising from the shots on my belly). Both sons born perfectly healthy via c-section. Also I got a ton more ultrasounds at the end because of the lovenox my doctor wanted to make sure baby was happy.

If anything you will be monitored a little more closely throughout your pregnancy. :) my mil is a labor and delivery nurse and she sees woman with these issues and on these meds giving birth to healthy babies all the time. I know it's hard to not worry but by taking your medications you are preventing all the bad things that could happen. :hugs:
