Hey everybody!

So I just got the results of my one hour glucose test back, and my OB says I am borderline for GD with a score of 138. I need to go back in a week for a three hour test. I'm pretty bummed about it, as I'm a FTM and I'd love to avoid the recovery of a c-section. I know GD isn't a guarantee of a c-section, but it can increase your chances of needing one.

Right now I'm just trying to make changes to my diet now to increase my chances of passing the 3 hour test and to keep baby and me as healthy as possible. I admittedly have craved carbs and fried food like crazy during my whole pregnancy, so hopefully limiting those things will do a lot of good. I work long shifts at a physical job and go to school on-campus where I'm walking around all day, so I'm not so worried about my activity levels. I know diet is my big issue.

I just wanted to know, does anyone here have experience failing the one hour but going on to pass the three hour test?

I know I should just stay calm and keep trying to eat healthy, but I admit I am very nervous at the thought of having GD. I know it is manageable and that it will likely go away after pregnancy, but I don't want baby girl to be at risk for hypoglycemia or anything else!!

If you have GD dieting isn't really going to change that. If you borderline failed I really don't think you have GD. I failed the one hour with both of my pregnancies and passed the three hour with flying colors. I plan to ask to just do the three hour test if I ever get pregnant again. GL.

That is strange.
I'm in Canada, and I was borderline for the 1 hr test, but they told me that still counts as passing it. (I dont' remember the exact range, but let's say it was 4 to 10.8, well I was 10.8) and they didn't make me re-do it for the 3 hours one.

At my pregnancy pool classes, I had 2 moms with GD, and neither of them had a c-section! :) They had their babies at 39+1 and 38+5, naturally! I don't know where you are, or how it works, but here for them, all they did, is basically start inducing methods when they hit 37 ish (swipping the membranes and whatnot).

I think if you were borderline for the 1hr, you should be fine for the 3 hrs! Goodluck mama

139 isn't terrible. The cut off at my doctors office was 135 for the 1 hour test. Mine was 159 and I failed the 3 hour as well. I was just diagnosed with GD last week. So far my fasting numbers and after food numbers have been fine. They told me we will control it with diet/exercise and then go from there. If it starts getting out of control medication would then be used.

I failed the one-hour and passed the three-hour! Try not to worry too much!

Hi! I don't have any advice, but wanted to commiserate, because I'm in the same boat as you. This is my 3rd pregnancy, but the first time I haven't passed the one hour GD screen. I go for the 3 hour one on Saturday.

I haven't heard about needing a C-section for GD.... but Dr. Google said they may induce at 38/39 weeks? Not sure how true this is. I can say, they asked me multiple times when I gave birth to my son 2.5 weeks early and he was just under 9 lbs, whether I had GD and I was able to say that I had passed the one hour screen. Turned out he was just big

When do you go for your 3 hour test??
